By:

This past February, the Paramount announced to its nearly 13,000 inaugural Broadway series subscribers the four musicals on tap for the theater's second Broadway season: Grease (Sept. 12-Oct. 7, 2012), Annie (Nov. 21-Dec. 30, 2012), The Music Man (Jan. 16-Feb. 3, 2013) and Fiddler on the Roof (Mar. 6-24, 2013).

Today, Paramount Executive Director Tim Rater added a long list of A-list music legends, nationally recognized comedy stars, incredible tribute bands, and spectacular family friendly shows that promise to keep Aurora's historic Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena Blvd., hopping year round in 2012-2013.

Highlights include country music sensation Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas (Aug. 26), comedian Rodney Carrington (Sept. 8), an election year visit by The Capitol Steps (Oct. 12), Aurora's own Ballet Folklorico Quetzalcoatl (Oct. 19),the folk-rock duo The Indigo Girls (Nov. 3), a one-night-only visit by William Shatner in his one-man show SHATNER'S WORLD: We Just Live In It... (Jan. 4); a Valentine's Day concert by the # 1 love balladeer of all time, Bobby Vinton (Feb. 14); the disco era tribute show Stayin' Alive: One Night of The Bee Gees (Mar. 30), and '60s rockers The Ides of March and Herman's Hermits with Peter Noone (May 18).

Speaking of the '60s, the Paramount's 81st season celebration begins Friday, August 24 at 5 pm with the annual Season Kick-Off Bash in the Paramount's beautiful Grand Gallery, followed by the first show of the new season, the Happy Together Tour. For only $10, Kick-Off Party guests will enjoy delicious pre-show appetizers prepared by area restaurants and dining partners, a cash bar, and chances to win amazing prizes from 5 to 7 pm. Following the party is the Happy Together Tour at 8 pm, with a new line-up for 2012 boasting some of the great pop and rock stars of the era: Flo & Eddie, Gary Puckett and the Union Gap, The Buckinghams, The Grass Roots and Micky Dolenz from The Monkees. Tickets to the concert are $59.50.

"Add a full roster of children's entertainment and the Paramount will be presenting one of the most diverse entertainment line-ups in all of Chicagoland," said Paramount Theatre Executive Director Tim Rater.

Current Paramount subscribers get first dibs on tickets and the best seats through Friday, June 8.
