Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) presents its contemporary retelling of William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, staged by acclaimed British director Jonathan Munby in his Chicago debut, now playing through March 24, 2013 in CST's Courtyard Theater. Today in 1980, the first Broadway revival of WEST SIDE STORY opened at the Minskoff Theatre, where it ran for 333 performances. West Side Story is an American musical with a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and conception and choreography by Jerome Robbins. It was inspired by William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. Set in New York City in the mid-1950s, the musical explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds. Bernstein's score for the musical has become extremely popular; it includes 'Something's Coming', 'Maria', 'America', 'Somewhere', 'Tonight', 'Jet Song', 'I Feel Pretty', 'A Boy Like That', 'One Hand, One Heart', 'Gee, Officer Krupke' and 'Cool'.

The Queens Players' and Secret Theatre's Richard Mazda [Edward II, MacBeth, Othello, Knight of the Burning Pestle, Dr Faustus], once again brings a unique style and concept to a beloved Shakespeare piece, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING with a fantastically talented team of designers; Beth Williams, Helen Ammon, Casey Rowe and John Michael Creenan helping to create a unique Trash Period world who with an extremely talented cast will bring the funny in William Shakespeare's beloved comedy. Digital Theatre today (12 February 2013) announces its next release - Tony and Olivier Award-winning actor Jonathan Pryce stars in Michael Attenborough's production of William Shakespeare's King Lear. The production, the second collaboration between Digital Theatre and the Almeida Theatre, was captured live in October 2012 during the play's sell-out run.
