Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble's Director Split The Bill For ART IN RESPONSE

The directors of Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble, Ellyzabeth Adler and Sara Maslanka, split the bill in Art In Response to feature four works of new, in-process and remounted Ensemble repertoire. I Bet You Think This Dance is About You is an in-process work by Sara Maslanka devised using the poetry in, milk and honey, by Rupi Kaur to explore how perceptions and experiences shape us. This in-process work will be developed into an evening-length work set to premiere May 2018.

On Monday April 23rd The Keats-Shelley Memorial Association announced the winners of the annual Keats-Shelley Prize writing competition which this year attracted a record number of entries from around the world.  The prize giving event was held at the Society of Antiquaries (founded 1707) at Burlington House in central London. 

L.A. Children's Chorus Gives to Present Two Spring World Premieres

Los Angeles Children's Chorus (LACC), renowned for its exquisite bel canto sound, presents a sweeping program for its Spring Concert, entitled "And This Shall Be For Beauty," led by Artistic Director Anne Tomlinson and featuring two world premieres -  Laughing Song by noted Icelandic composer Daniel Bjarnason and I am I am I am by rising Norwegian composer Therese Ulvo - and a musical celebration of Leonard Bernstein's centennial on Saturday, May 12, 7 pm, and Mother's Day, Sunday, May 13, 2018, 7 pm, at Pasadena Presbyterian Church.  Additionally, the Chorus performs works by by Esa-Pekka Salonen, Grieg, Faure, Hilary Tann, Gwenyth Walker and Ola Gjeilo, among others.

The Marsh, acclaimed as a premier venue for solo shows and new works, welcomes a collaboration between lauded playwright Lynne Kaufman and award-winning director Robert Kelley with Two Minds. Returning to The Marsh after her hit run of Acid Test: The Many Incarnations of Ram Dass, Kaufman's new drama re-envisions the relationship between two men who changed the way people think. Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky's groundbreaking research on how people make decisions won the brilliant Israeli psychologists a Nobel Prize and a McArthur Genius Award. The pair was intellectually so aligned they could finish each other's sentences, but emotionally their differences tore them apart. Two Minds weaves together the story of their unique partnership as well as their troubled friendship.

BSM Celebrates Women Composers With THE MUSIC OF REBECCA CLARKE

Bloomingdale School of Music (BSM) is pleased to continue its mini-series celebrating the music of women composers with a concert entitled, The Music of Rebecca Clarke on Friday, March 9th at 7:00 pm.  This free concert will be held at the David Greer Recital Hall at the school's home site at 323 West 108th Street in Manhattan. Seating is limited. Led by BSM piano faculty member Tim McCullough and joined by mezzo soprano Lara Nie and violist Ann Roggen, the program shines a spotlight on the music of the English/American composer Rebecca Clarke and features vocal settings of poems by William Shakespeare and William Blake as well as the epic Viola Sonata.
