Our Time has announced that David Seidler, who recently won an Academy Award for writing this year's Best Picture, ‘The King's Speech', will be honored for his achievements, at their 9th Annual Gala, April 11th, 2011, in NYC. The event will take place at 7pm at Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.

New York City Opera's General Manager and Artistic Director George Steel will moderate an in-depth roundtable discussion on what defines the opera and musical theater genres at the Gershwin Theatre on the set of Stephen Schwartz's acclaimed Broadway production Wicked. He will be joined by a panel of distinguished composers and playwrights including Stephen Schwartz, Rufus Wainwright (composer and performer), Adam Guettel (composer of Floyd Collins and The Light in the Piazza), John Kander (composer of Cabaret and Chicago) and David Henry Hwang (librettist for operas such as Alice in Wonderland and The Fly, playwright of M. Butterfly, book for Flower Drum Song, Tarzan and Aida on Broadway). The discussion, which will take place on April 10, precedes the New York premiere of Schwartz's first opera Séance on a Wet Afternoon, opening at New York City Opera on Tuesday, April 19.

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed 'Best of New York' by New York Magazine and 'an invaluable New York institution' by The New York Post, will continue its all-star Spring 2011 season with the return of Tony Award-winning Broadway star, LAURA BENANTI. Her new show 'Let Me Entertain You' will feature songs from her Broadway roles in Gypsy ('Let Me Entertain You'), Nine ('Unusual Way'), Into The Woods ('Children Will Listen') and Swing! ('Skylark' and 'Hit Me With A Hot Note'), in addition to classics such as 'Alright, Okay, You Win,' 'They All Laughed' and 'If I Were A Bell.' 'It's a relaxed, fun show,' says Laura. 'The evening should feel like you are in my living room where I am telling my favorite stories and singing my favorite songs.' Both performances are at the Loews Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).

Monday nights have been long enjoyed by theatregoers and all of us here at BroadwayWorld.com as the night where there's more cabarets, benefit concerts and other special events than we know how to handle. The beginning of the week has gotten even more complicated now, because in addition to all of those, we're now finding ourselves rushing home to be in front of the TV at 10pm to watch the wonderful NURSE JACKIE on Showtime, starring Edie Falco. The show has featured a parade (which we hope never ends) of other Broadway talent and guest stars as well. Season 3, which began last week looks to be the show's sharpest, most fun and strongest season yet.

The passionate modern classic, 'Burn This' by Pulitzer Prize-winner Lanford Wilson, has now begun rehearsals under the direction of Nicholas Martin. Previews for 'Burn This' at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum are March 23 - May 1, 2011, with opening set for April 3.
The cast includes, in alphabetical order, Brooks Ashmanskas, Ken Barnett, Zabryna Guevara and Adam Rothenberg.

Producers Whoopi Goldberg and Stage Entertainment have announced that Tony Award-winner Victoria Clark will co-star as Mother Superior in the new Broadway musical, SISTER ACT, beginning preview performances on March 24, 2011 and opening on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway). As previously announced, Olivier Award nominee Patina Miller will reprise her critically acclaimed performance as Deloris Van Cartier, which she originated in the West End production of SISTER ACT.
