Cerveris, Garber, et al. Set for OUR TIME Gala, Seidler Named Honoree

Our Time has announced that David Seidler, who recently won an Academy Award for writing this year's Best Picture, ‘The King's Speech', will  be honored for his achievements, at their 9th Annual Gala, April 11th, 2011, in NYC. The event will take place at 7pm at Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.

Other participating artists and presenters include: Lauren Ambrose, Michael Cerveris, Victor Garber, Kelli O'Hara, John Oliver, Jason Patric, Ron Rifkin, Amy Ryan, cast members of American Idiot and more.

‘The King's Speech' has spawned a global dialogue on stuttering, much in the way that ‘Rain Man' did for autism many years ago. Few films in history have captured the fear, shame, and social stigma associated with stuttering as honestly and poignantly as this historical drama.

In ‘The King's Speech,' an actor (Geoffrey Rush's character, Lionel Logue) uses arts training to instill confidence in a man whose stuttering almost stood in the way of his destiny to lead England during a turbulent time of war. The film, like Our Time, reinforces the importance of building confidence and addressing the emotional implications of stuttering. ‘The King's Speech' is promoting widespread awareness about stuttering, which is part of Our Time's mission.

The film's star Colin Firth has been confirmed as Honorary Chair for Our Time's event, which focuses on the theme ‘I Could Be King' (Firth will not be in attendance, but has lent his support to the worthy cause). Superstar Carly Simon (last year's Our Time Honoree,) is confirmed to perform multiple songs.

The show will feature a performance by celebrity guests alongside the young members of Our Time, where they perform original songs and scenes written by the Our Time kids. The performance is followed by an elegant dinner and live auction upstairs in the Rosenthal Pavilion. For tickets, visit
