The American Theatre Wing announced today that the recipients of the 2014 Jonathan Larson Grants are writing team Sara Cooper (lyricist/bookwriter) & Zach Redler (composer), receiving $12,500 and the Running Deer Residency; and Shaina Taub (composer/lyricist), receiving $12,500. The prestigious grants, totaling $15,000 more than last year's grants, will be presented on Monday, April 7, 2014 at a private event at the WNYC Greene Space. The event will feature special performances of the recipients' work.

Drama Desk and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti ('The Sound of Music Live!', Gypsy, Women On The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) will host the 59th Annual Drama Desk Awards on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at 8:00 PM at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street), it was announced today.

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, has announced the creative team for the company's 20th Anniversary Season opener - Kiss Me, Kate, to be presented June 11 through July 12 on the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage (30 Union Street).

Following Transport Group's 2011 production of Queen of the Mist, our 20th Century Project continues into its second decade (1910 - 1920) with an urgent new revival of John Van Druten's beloved classic, I Remember Mama, directed by Jack Cummings III. The production will be performed at The Gym at Judson, March 16-April 20, 2014. Opening night is set for March 30.

Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theatre company, has announced that its acclaimed production of Almost, Maine, written by John Cariani and directed by Jack Cummings III, will be taped for the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts on February 27. Almost, Maine opened February 4.

In Episode 208, award-winning musical theatre writer Joel B. New sat down with Broadway performer Nikka Graff Lanzarone. Ms. Lanzarone has been seen on stages all over the country, most recently as a seven-foot-tall peacock in 'The Jungle Book' at the Goodman and Huntington Theatres, and on Broadway in the shows 'Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown' and 'Chicago.' In NYC, Nikka was also seen as The Whore in the Transport Group's revival of 'Hello Again', with her family at 54 Below, and in her own solo show at Joe's Pub. She is also a renegade occasional stylist. When not doing any of those other things, she co-created and co-hosts a Broadway-themed podcast called The Ensemblist with her partner Mo Brady, which turns Broadway inside out.

Paper Mill Playhouse continues its 75th Anniversary Season with another new musical The Other Josh Cohen. The Other Josh Cohen features a book, music and lyrics by David Rossmer and Steve Rosen. Ted Sperling (Striking 12, See What I Wanna See) will direct with musical staging by Andrew Palermo. Vadim Feichtner serves as Music Director. The Other Josh Cohen will feature Steve Rosen, David Rossmer,Hannah Elless, Vadim Feichtner, Cathryn Salamone, Ken Triwush and Kate Wetherhead. The Other Josh Cohen will play the Millburn, New Jersey theater through March 16. The official press opening night is Sunday, February 23, 2014, at 7:00pm. Due to strong ticket sales, this first New York revival of one of the country's most produced plays will now play through Sunday, March 2 at the Gym at Judson, 243 Thompson Street at West 4 Street. Opening night is set for Tuesday, February 4. (Almost, Maine was originally scheduled to run through Sunday, February 23.)
