PRINCE OF BROADWAY, a new musical celebrating the extraordinary six-decade Broadway career of producer-director Harold Prince, plays from October 23-November 22, 2015 at Tokyu Theatre Orb in Tokyo, Japan and November 28-December 10, 2015 at Umeda Arts Theatre, Main Hall, in Osaka, Japan. A new concert series curated by the renowned Tony Award-winning composer, lyricist, conductor, and director, Jason Robert Brown. Each unique performance will incorporate an eclectic mix of material, featuring music from throughout his acclaimed career, along with new works in development. Tonight's (October 1st) performance will feature Cynthia Erivo, Kate McGarry, and Tony Yazbeck.

The Umeda Arts Theater world premiere production of PRINCE OF BROADWAY began rehearsals on September 3 in New York City. Hal Prince just talked to Deadline about the once-stalled show's upcoming premiere in Japan, taking the production to Broadway next year, his flops and his successes throughout his career, and more.

On Monday, September 28, the Theater People podcast welcomes back Tony-winner Laura Benanti for part 2 of her interview. The first part of the interview launched earlier this month. In this episode, Benanti discusses her work in the short-lived WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN for which the actress received her fourth Tony nomination. On Thursday, September 24th, the National YoungArtsFoundation (YoungArts) kicked off their 2015-2016 season with the second annual YoungArts Awareness Day, a national campaign to encourage young artists to pursue their dreams of becoming professional artists and to show that #becauseofyoungarts, artists ages 15 to 18 years are able to take the next steps toward achieving their goals and building a strong professional network including award-winning and acclaimed alumni. A town's a lonely town when you're wearing the wrong baseball team's cap.

On Monday, September 9, the Theater People podcast welcomes Tony-winning director Michael Mayer and writer/lyricist Dick Scanlan. For the episode, Mayer and Scanlan discuss their new collaboration, WHORL INSIDE A LOOP which Scanlan co-wrote with Sherie Rene Scott and which Mayer and Scanlan co-directed. The play, currently running Off-Broadway at Second Stage Theater, is loosely based on Scanlan and Scott's experience working with prison inmates on putting together a show based on monologues written by the inmates about the circumstances that landed them in jail.

The Umeda Arts Theater world premiere production of Prince of Broadway began rehearsals on Thursday, September 3 in New York City, and BroadwayWorld has the first photos from that process below!

The Tony Award nominated revival of On The Town concludes its run on Broadway tonight, September 6, following 28 previews and 368 regular performances, making this the longest-running Broadway production of the show since the 1944 original. ON THE TOWN began previews on September 20, 2014 and officially opened on October 16, 2014 at the Lyric Theatre. To mark tonight's closing, BroadwayWorld takes you back through the musical's run on the Great White Way!

Original cast member Megan Fairchild will return to the acclaimed Broadway revival of On The Town for one final turn as Ivy Smith on Sunday night. Misty Copeland will perform the Sunday matinee.
