In today's special pre-show performance, FINDING NEVERLAND star Matthew Morrison joined the party to freestyle rap based on the word 'Disneyland,' with HAMILTON star/creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. In addition, HAMILTON music director Alex Lacamoire accompanied Morrison as he serenaded Miranda with LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, the show for which Morrison received a Tony nomination. First Floor Theater (FFT) is thrilled to announce the first show of their fourth season, the world premiere of ANIMALS COMMIT SUICIDE, playwright J. Julian Christopher's high-octane and darkly comic story of desire, disease, and contemporary queer life.

This weekend, director Lear deBessonet and composer Todd Almond's adaptaion of Homer's The Odyssey marks the third year the Public Theater's Public Works hits Central Park's Delacorte Theater with a brand new musical spectacular based on a classic piece of literature, mixing the talents of a handful of Equity actors with performing arts groups and community organizations from throughout New York's five boroughs. Drag Sensation Sweetie begins a new run of THE ULTIMATE DRAG OFF at the Triad Theatre, starting September 18th, featuring Co-hosts from from film, TV and stage including nightlife columnist and NYC personality Michael Musto, Christine Pedi (Newsical), Michael Cusumano (American in Paris) and more! 

The Public Theater will kick off the 2015-16 season in September with a free Public Works musical adaptation of Homer's THE ODYSSEY, conceived and directed by Public Works Director Lear deBessonet, with music, lyrics and book by Todd Almond. THE ODYSSEY will once again feature over 200 actors and community members alongside five equity actors, including this year Brandon Victor Dixon as Odysseus and Karen Olivo as Penelope.

On Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 6:00PM to 7:30PM, Madison Square Park Conservancy will host Poetry Under Fata Morgana, a free, public poetry event showcasing leading voices in spoken word poetry and performance, organized by artist Teresita Fernandez and poet Emanuel Xavier.

Signature Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for the world premiere production of Cake Off, a new musical by Sheri Wilner (Kingdom City), Julia Jordan (Murder Ballad) and Adam Gwon (Signature's The Boy Detective Fails). Directed by Signature's Director of New Works Joe Calarco (Signature's Gypsy, Shakespeare's R&J) this hilarious new musical is a battle-of-the-sexes set at the 50th Annual Millberry Cake-Off competition. Cake Off runs September 29 - November 22 in the ARK Theatre.

PS122, The Chocolate Factory and The Creek & The Cave present Adrienne Truscott's ASKING FOR IT: A One-Lady Rape About Comedy Starring Her P*ssy and Little Else! Truscott's 'brilliantly bold and thoroughly engaging provocation'(The Times UK) that mixes humor, dance, video and p*ssy-puppetry while undoing the rules and rhetoric surrounding rape and comedy will have its longest yet New York City run.

This class is open to middle school students (grades 5-8) who desire to improve their acting and performance technique. The Actor Performance Training Program is sectioned into three units, allowing for in-depth study of various acting topics. Students will begin with improvisation then they will learn how to create characters through Shakespearean text. For the final unit, students will be asked to incorporate what they have learned throughout the year into a devised theatre piece. The program will conclude with a showcase where they perform their original ensemble-generated performance.

The Public Theater has announced a one-week extension today for the New York premiere of ECLIPSED, written by Danai Gurira. Directed by Obie Award winner Liesl Tommy and featuring Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o in her New York stage debut, this powerful story of survival and resilience begins previews at The Public Theater Tuesday, September 29 and was originally scheduled to run through Sunday, November 8. It will now run an additional week through Sunday, November 15 with an official press opening on Wednesday, October 14.
