Jim McGreevey, the 52nd Governor of New Jersey, made a special appearance at the Saturday, June 28th, evening performance of Joe Assadourian's The Bullpen. A service volunteer to former prisoners seeking rehabilitation with the Exodus Transitional Community, McGreevey stopped for a photo with Playwright/Actor Joe Assadourian and Fortune Society Founder David Rothenberg.

The New York Philharmonic will present a semi-staged production of Kern & Hammerstein's Tony Award-winning musical Show Boat, November 5 - 8, 2014. Vanessa Williams will star as Julie, Julian Ovenden will star as Gaylord Ravenal, and Lauren Worsham will star as Magnolia, all in their Philharmonic debuts. The National Alliance For Musical Theatre (NAMT) announced today its selections for the 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals. Beautiful Poison, Cubamor, Great Wall, How To Break, Mary Marie, The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes, String and Stu For Silverton make up the eight new musicals that will be presented at the 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals on Thursday, October 23, 2014 and Friday, October 24, 2014 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

The Public Theater will soon present KING LEAR, the second show of The Public's free Shakespeare in the Park season at the Delacorte. Featuring the previously announced John Lithgow as Lear, this enduring tragedy will begin performances on Tuesday, July 22 and run through Sunday, August 17, with an official press opening on Tuesday, August 5. Artistic Director Hal Brooks has announced that the 20th Season of the Cape Cod Theatre Project, featuring staged readings of new work by Cory Hinkle, Hamish Linklater, Seth Moore and the Lobbyists, and Alena Smith is now cast. Obie Winner and Tony Nominee Johanna Day will be joined by Girls star Michael Zegen and others.

Will Eno's new play The Realistic Joneses will play its final performance of the limited run on Sunday, July 6, 2014, at 3:00 pm, having played 27 previews and 105 performances for a total of 132 performances. It began performances Thursday, March 13, 2014, with an official opening night on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the Lyceum Theatre (149 W 45th Street).

The award-winning New York production of David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's musical Here Lies Love will open the new Dorfman Theatre (formerly the Cottesloe), following its complete refurbishment as part of the NT Future project. Here Lies Love plays from 30 September to 8 January, with a press night on 13 October.

Michael Cerveris, Isaiah Johnson, Randy Newman, Laura Osnes, Vonda Shepard, Brooklyn Shuck, Tony Vincent and Broadway Inspirational Voices have been cast in Randy Newman's Faust: The Concert, which will be performed tonight, July 1 as the second Encores! Off-Center presentation of the 2014 season. Faust will be directed by Thomas Kail and choreographed by Marcos Santana. Jeanine Tesori is the Encores! Off-Center artistic director; Chris Fenwick is its music director.

In the first of three minisodes, award-winning musical theatre writer Joel B. New discusses the development history of his song cycle, STANDALONE. Special vocal cameos by Carrie Love, David Burnham (The Light in the Piazza), Rachel Louise Thomas, Tony Yazbeck (On the Town), Dan Radzikowski, Roy Lightner, Shain Fike, Erin McCracken, and Nicole Wolf. The minisode series is a countdown to the premiere recording of STANDALONE, set to be released on Monday, July 21st.

The Public Theater's production of David Byrne, Fatboy Slim and Alex Timbers' smash hit musical, Here Lies Love, opened on May 1st at the Public Theater's Luesther Hall for an open-ended commercial run. The principal cast from the 2013 world premiere of Here Lies Love returns, including Ruthie Ann Miles and Jose Llana as Imelda and Ferdinand Marcos, and Conrad Ricamora as Ninoy Aquino. The cast just visited FOX 5 to perform 'I Am A Child of the Philippines' and you can check out the song below!

The Public Theater presents the free one-night event, PUBLIC FORUM: SHAKESPEARE IN AMERICA, tonight, June 30 at 8:00 p.m. at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Whitney Bashor, Annette Bening, Jessica Chastain, author E.L. New York Stage and Film and Vassar College, this summer celebrating the 30th year of their Powerhouse Theater collaboration, announced that Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Kyra Sedgwick will lead the cast of Academy Award and Tony Award winner John Patrick Shanley's new play The Danish Widow, which will premiere July 16-27, 2014 at Hallie Flanagan-Davis Powerhouse Theater at Vassar College. Shanley also directs the cast which also includes multitalented Broadway vets Craig Bierko and Matt McGrath, as well as stage and screen actress Annika Boras.
