Nimbus Dance Works announces the third year of its annual holiday tradition: Jersey City Nutcracker. Jersey City Nutcracker tells the story of two children's urban holiday adventure leading them through fantasy, adversity and celebration and teaching them lessons about friendship and community along the way. Choreographed and directed by Nimbus Artistic Director Samuel Pott, this adaption of Tchaikovsky's holiday classic is performed by a stand-out cast of professional dancers from Nimbus Dance Works joined by youth and adults from the community as they portray familiar characters such as the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Rat King, the Arabian Princess and Drosselmeyer - all with a Jersey City twist! Amidst colorful sets, costumes, a brightly adorned tree, youth and adults alike are touched by this tale of Christmas spirit.

FOCUS 2013, a celebration of U.S.-based dance presented by Gotham Arts Exchange, introduces a new program and stage to its annual platform, FOCUS2013: FOCAL POINT, comprised of three programs each curated by a different dance artist. FOCAL POINT will be presented on Friday, January 11 at 8pm; Saturday, January 12 at 4pm; and Sunday, January 13 at 4pm at The Ailey Citigroup Theater, 405 W. 55th Street, NYC. FOCUS DANCE is a part of FOCUS 2013, the National Platform to promote American dance both abroad and nationally. The week-long platform presents performances of U.S.-based dance companies during the annual Arts Presenters Conference in New York City, and one of the largest gatherings of artists, dancers and dance professionals in the U.S. From January 8-14, 2013, four venues partner with Gotham Arts Exchange to present the artistic visions of five curators gathered to shape this year's edition:
Parsons Dance Presents Two New Works at The Joyce Theater, 1/15-27

Choreographers Brian Brooks, Beth Gill and Pontus Lidberg have been awarded New York City Center's 2012-13 Choreography Fellowships. The Fellowship program was launched in conjunction with the theater's reopening season in 2011-12 with a mission to support choreographers at critical stages in their careers. It reflects City Center's long history of nurturing dance makers from George Balanchine to Christopher Wheeldon.

Houston Ballet Presents JUBILEE OF DANCE: A TRIBUTE TO AMY FOTE Tonight

Tonight, November 30, 2012, Houston Ballet presents its ninth annual Jubilee of Dance: A Tribute to Amy Fote, a special one-night only performance showcasing the talent and artistry of the company dancers in a program of high-energy excerpts from signature works and beloved classics. Houston Chronicle dance critic Molly Glentzer called the 2006 Jubilee of Dance "the event of the season," noting, "The audience gave it a rousing standing ovation." The Jubilee of Dance will be held at Wortham Theater Center in downtown Houston.
RIOULT Dance New York Receives NEA Grant

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced today that RIOULT Dance New York is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. RIOULT Dance New York is recommended for a $10,000 grant to support the creation of a new work in 2013.
Nederlands Dans Theater Returns to NY in April

The Joyce Theater Foundation is readying the red carpet to welcome the return of the Nederlands Dans Theater to New York City after an eight-year absence. One of Europe's most celebrated contemporary dance companies, NDT performs at the David H. Koch Theater, April 11 & 12. It will also perform as part of The Joyce's April 10 gala at the Koch.

The Joyce Theater Foundation announced today that it has successfully rescheduled Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal to return for four performances December 13 - 15, after its original Joyce engagement this season was canceled due to the power and transportation outages caused by Hurricane Sandy. As previously announced, the program will include new works by Spanish choreographer Cayetano Soto, former Batsheva resident choreographer Barak Marshall, and celebrated Chinese choreographer Wen Wei Wang. Noted interior designer Vicente Wolf-described by Architectural Digest as an "undisputed minimalist master"- knows the importance of making this 'second home' a comforting and welcoming place, which is why he agreed to give the historic space a major design facelift pro bono his past Fall.
