Back by popular demand, playwright Sibyl Renaye revives her award-winning autobiographical stage play, This Is Why I Whisper, at Symphony Space's Pete Jay Sharp Theatre, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street for two special showings today, June 29, 2013 @ 2pm and & 7:30pm. Jonathan Valdez returns as director with Rasheda Crockett joining original cast members, Michael Gilbert, Sandra Williams, Deidre Da Silva, Keith H. Henley, Maurice A. Tucker, Eugene Daniels, Errol Dicks, and Manuel Monsante.

Spectrum presents NYX II: New York Progressive and Experimental Festival celebrating the historical interaction between the genres of classical Experimental Music and Progressive Rock since their beginning and into the 21st century.

Artistic Director Robert Lyons presents the 20th annual Obie Award-winning Ice Factory Festival. Ice Factory 2013 takes place at the New Ohio Theatre, located at 154 Christopher Street between Greenwich and Washington Streets in New York City. Ice Factory 2013 will celebrate its 20th Anniversary with six new works over six weeks, running from today, June 26 - August 3, 2013.

Make Music New York presents the world premiere of Jed Distler's Broken Record, a piece composed for 175 battery-powered Yamaha keyboards and one Yamaha acoustic grand piano on Cornelia Street in the West Village today, June 21st. This summer marks the 53rd annual Summer Sing Program. Each summer, the New York Choral Society produces a Summer Sings series that features the most popular masterworks of the choral literature.

Composer and cellist Peri Mauer will premiere her new work LIFE ON EARTH tonight, June 19, 7 PM, as part of the Music With a View Festival 2013 at the Flea Theater (41 White St. NY, NY). The piece is for chamber orchestra. Mauer will be conducting and playing cello.

Tonight, June 18th, 2013, Rosemary Loar opens an encore run of her critically acclaimed cabaret creation: a show that showcases the genius of songwriting legends, Harold Arlen and Duke Elliington. Juilliard Dance, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes, opens its 2013-2014 season with New Dances PLUS: Edition 2013, Wednesday, December 11 through Sunday, December 15, 2013 in Juilliard's Peter Jay Sharp Theater and features Juilliard alumna Pina Bausch's Wind von West (Wind from the West) performed by the Senior Class, plus three world premiere commissions created for each of the classes of Juilliard's Dance Division. UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC), in a collaboration with the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, will record three songs from the little-known 1947 musical comedy Barefoot Boy With Cheek featuring performances by Jenn Colella (Chaplin, Closer Than Ever), Max von Essen(Evita, Death Takes a Holiday) and Robert Lenzi (South Pacific, Hello Again). UMC's recordings will be released for free digital download on the New York Public Library's website as part of its Musical of the Month blog series, which recently featured UMC's reconstruction of the Barefoot Boy libretto. The musical has never received a cast album.

Internationally acclaimed actress Helen Mirren's performance as The Queen in the world premiere of Peter Morgan's THE AUDIENCE, directed by Stephen Daldry, will be seen by cinema audiences worldwide when National Theatre Live broadcasts the play live from London's Gielgud Theatre on June 13, 2013, with varying dates internationally and encore screenings throughout the summer. THE AUDIENCE reunites Mirren and Morgan after collaborating on the 2006 film The Queen, in which Mirren also portrayed Elizabeth II, winning the Academy, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and BAFTA Awards for Best Actress for her performance. For their performances in THE AUDIENCE, both Mirren and Richard McCabe (as former Prime Minister Harold Wilson) won 2013 Olivier Awards for Best Actress and Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

SONGS FOR A TRAVELER, the new album from The Looking, turns American folk classics and old country songs such as like “Wayfaring Stranger,” “900 Miles,” “River in the Pines,” and “Blue River” into solid alt-pop rock. This third album from The Looking will be released on June 11, 2013, with a release show at The Rockwood on July 7th.
