Ruby Froom made her debut at the sold-out Suzanne Vega/Duncan Sheik concert at Manhattan's famed Highline Ballroom. Vega's daughter, Froom is a Vocal Major at New York's famous LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts (setting of the film FAME). Bill Connington, star of the award-winning play ZOMBIE (scheduled to be shot as a feature film) attended the concert as well. Ballet is finally letting its hair down and heading to Happy Hour with the upcoming performance of "Cocktail Hour" at New York City's most buzzed about new performance space - XL Cabaret - on Thursday, June 14th at 8:00pm. Conceived and choreographed by critically acclaimed dance-maker Marilyn Klaus, each piece is inspired by a well known cocktail and brings one of the highest art forms to the masses in a fresh and playful way. The irreverent dance suite gives life to a variety of iconic drinks-saluting the elegance of cocktail culture as the Martini, Mai Tai, Gimlet, Mint Julep and an aptly named 'Scotch on the Rachmaninoff' spring off the menu and onto the stage.

Award-winning disk jockey, rock historian and author Pete Fornatale, the host of Mixed Bag on WFUV and a New York radio icon for more than 40 years, has died. His family announced his death at age 66. A private funeral mass is planned. WFUV (90.7 FM, wfuv.org) will offer an on-air celebration of his life and career on Saturday, May 5 from 4 to 8 p.m.

The 11th Annual Independent Music Awards have just announced their 2012 nominees and Amy Correia is one of a handful of songwriters to garner three nominations: 'Singer-Songwriter Folk Album' -- Your Go Your Way, 'Love Song' -- Love Changes Everything, and 'Story Song' -- Took Him Away. While Keith Richards, Tom Waits, Kathleen Brennan, Suzanne Vega, Ozzy Osbourne are just some of the jury members for the official IMA awards this year, there is also a popular vote that fans can cast.

For the second year in a row the Anglo-New Yorker, SPOTTISWOODE, has been nominated by the Independent Music Awards for an album produced by the diabolical KENNY SIEGAL at Old Soul Studios. Last year, Spottiswoode was nominated for his plaintive and confessional solo record, PIANO 45, in the best adult contemporary album category. This year he has been nominated twice for WILD GOOSECHASE EXPEDITION.
