Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has announced the complete cast for its upcoming production of the new musical THE BLUE FLOWER: Sebastian Arcelus (Buddy in Elf, Wicked, Jersey Boys), Marc Kudisch (Three-time Tony Award nominee for 9 to 5, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Thoroughly Modern Millie), Meghan McGeary (The Blue Flower at A.R.T.), Joseph Medeiros (Irving Berlin's White Christmas), Julia Osborne (National Tour of South Pacific), Graham Rowat (Guys and Dolls), Aaron Serotsky (August: Osage County), and Teal Wicks (Elphaba in Wicked).

The Ensemble Studio Theatre and Going to the River have lined up some of the most gifted women playwrights of color - some new, some established - for a three-week presentation of nine short, under 10-minute plays in return of the series The River Crosses Rivers, a three-week festival of short plays by women of color, previewing September 14 for an opening September 17 (runs through October 2) at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, 549 West 52nd Street.

Philip Morgaman (Tony-nominated producer for Cry-Baby) will present and direct a by-invitation-only reading of ReUNITed, a new comedy by Vance Stringer, starring Stephanie Gibson (currently seen on Broadway in The Addams Family) and Sam Prince (Girl Crazy at Encores!) as former flames that are 'reunited' at a Manhattan Mini Storage unit following a bitter break-up two years prior.

6th Street Playhouse Presents Independent Eye's FRANKENSTEIN, Opening 10/7

The Independent Eye presents a new vision of Mary Shelley's classic novel. Described as 'live theatrical animation,' the production features a trio of actors, two dozen life-size puppets, poetry, music and video. Adapted by Conrad Bishop & Elizabeth Fuller of Sebastopol, California this 'Frankenstein' tells the story of a man who, tormented by the death of his mother, seeks to conquer death by making birth obsolete.

Deep in the bowels of London's National Theatre, rehearsals for a new play go apace: Benjamin Britten is having trouble with his latest opera and seeks out his collaborator, poet W. H. Auden, after a twenty-five year separation. Between visits by a rent boy and a biographer-whom Auden briefly mistakes for the rent boy-these aging artists wrestle with their desires, their jealousies, the ephemeral connection between creativity and inspiration, and all the reasons their friendship fell apart.
