Diversionary Theatre announced the company's 2012-2013 productions and presentations at an event this past Saturday. The season will include the previously announced world-premiere of Harmony, Kansas, a new musical; an imaginative staging of Pippin; the first full-scale production of the new play, when last we flew; a comedy about family, Birds of a Feather; and, the hilarious farce, The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabbler.

Hans Christian Andersen's classic fairytale, "The Princess and the Pea," comes to the stage as a musical comedy in Once Upon a Mattress June 19 - August 5 at the Coterie Theatre in Crown Center.

East West Players (EWP), the nation's largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work and the longest-running professional theatre of color in the country, concludes its 46th Anniversary season, themed Languages of Love, with Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, directed by Tim Dang and choreographed by Reggie Lee.

The stars were shining, including Chita Rivera, Marge Champion, Stephen Schwartz and more, in Flushing Meadows Corona Park Wednesday evening when Queens Theatre hosted its 2012 Gala Fundraiser, a star-studded celebration of the world premiere of HEAT WAVE: THE Jack Cole PROJECT, a new musical homage to legendary stage and screen choreographer Jack Cole. The event raised more than $150,000 for the theatre and its programs, including its educational and outreach programs that bring theatre and the arts to public school students. The Town Hall's (123 West 43rd Street) critically acclaimed Broadway by the Year's® 12th Season continues with The Broadway Musicals of 1975 tonight, May 14th at 8PM. 1975 was a year that brought us famous shows by musical theater icons including Marvin Hamlisch, (A Chorus Line), John Kander and Fred Ebb (Chicago), and Richard O'Brien (The Rocky Horror Show), among others. Produced by The Town Hall, The Broadway Musicals of 1975 is created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel.

WICKED, the most anticipated musical production of the 2012-2013 season will go on sale to the public on Saturday, May 19 at 7 a.m.; tickets will be exclusively available at the box office from 7 to 10 a.m. on-site at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts at 361 Symphony Park Avenue in Las Vegas. Beginning at 10 a.m., any remaining tickets will be available for purchase online at www.TheSmithCenter.com or by phone at 702-749-2000. There is an 8-ticket limit per patron.

In 1976, Coal Miner's Daughter, country star Loretta Lynn's autobiography (written with journalist George Vecsey) became a New York Times Bestseller; in 1980 the book was made into an Academy Award-winning film starring Sissy Spacek and Tommy Lee Jones. Now, it's headed for Broadway, with actress Zooey Deschanel playing Loretta Lynn.

Jed Bernstein (Broadway Producer), Bob Israel (Movie Producer and Entertainment Marketing Executive), and Rich Battista (Entertainment and Media Executive) have announced the launch of The Broadway & Vine Fund, specifically dedicated to optioning movie titles for adaptation as musicals, commissioning creative teams to develop scripts, and staging the first readings and presentations. For any projects deemed worthy of further development, additional fundraising will be undertaken.
