WEST SIDE STORY Tour Announces Cast

The producers of WEST SIDE STORY are pleased to announce casting for the touring production of the current smash-hit revival now running on Broadway. The tour will kick off at The Fisher Theatre in Detroit, Mich. on September 30, 2010.

Mark Lamos will stage a reading of You Can't Take It With You for The Acting Compay at Playwrights Horizons on Monday, February 8th at 7pm. The cast for the reading, headed by Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham, also features Matt Amednt, Casey Biggs, Patricia Conolly, Stephen DeRosa, Harriet Harris, Pamela Hyberg, Angela Pierce, David Schramm, and Andrew Weems.

Yesterday, January 25, 2010 multi award-winning composer and lyricist Ryan Scott Oliver will brought his buzzed-about concert RATED RSO: The Music & Lyrics of Ryan Scott Oliver (www.facebook.com/ratedrso) back to Joe's Pub. Helmed by director Travis Greisler, RATED RSO features an eclectic range of songs from RSO's musicals Mrs. Sharp and Darling, as well as some all-new material from his latest show 35MM, all of which will transform the intimate nightspot into a haven for sexy schoolteachers, Bostonian rent-boys, obsessive homicidal teenagers and fairy dust. This final version of RATED RSO will be the biggest yet: two concerts; ten brand-new songs; and twenty-three incredible Broadway performers.

In contrast to the earlier shows of the ninth Broadway by the Year season, Scott Siegel chose a year with several hit shows?and hit shows?as the season finale at Town Hall last week. 1970 is probably best known for Company and Applause, but this was also the year of Purlie and The Rothschilds, as well as one of Richard Rodgers? final musicals, Two by Two. To his credit, Siegel gave every show ample opportunity to prove its worth, offering a wide spectrum of songs and styles, nicely accompanied (as always) by Ross Patterson and his Little Big Band.

The series is created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel for The Town Hall. The show was directed and choreographed by Fred Astaire Award nominee Jeffry Denman, who also performed in the show.
