Milton Keynes Theatre welcomes the return of Matthew Bourne with New Adventures 10th anniversary production of gothic romance, SLEEPING BEAUTY. 17 Jan - 21 Jan 2023.

New Adventures has announced the full tour dates and casting for the 10th anniversary production of Matthew Bourne's gothic romance, “SLEEPING BEAUTY”.

The track comes accompanied by a stunningly balletic video, the idea for which was dreamt up by guitarist Justin Lockey and directed by his and his brother’s production company Hand Held Cine Club, featuring dancers Harry Ondrak-Wright and Rory Macleod with choreography from Sophia Hurdley. For its 2019 season, National Youth Ballet will present WONDERLANDS, a mixed programme of new works choreographed by some of the country's rising talents, performed by a Company of young dancers aged 9-18 from across the UK.

Hal Cazalet is a leading operamusical theatre actor and singer in the UK and US. He now turns to directing his musical adaption of Oscar Wilde's The Happy Prince. 

A new musical based on Oscar Wilde's classic fairy tale will be presented in three showcase performances at The Place from 3 - 4 May 2019. The Happy Prince stars Janie Dee as Mrs Bentley, Phil Daniels as The Mayor, Sophia Hurdley as The Swallow and Sam Archer as The Prince. This heart-rending story about a Swallow's faithful love for the golden statue of a Prince is told through a seamless fusion of dance and song.

New Adventure's Production of the tale of Cinderella has never been more salacious or delicious. The dancing is superb, as well as the artistry involved in every facet of the production. With the updated scenario created, Cindy's world is smack dab in the middle of World War II. Directed and Choreographed by the incredible Sir Matthew Bourne, and loosely based on his parent's war stories, we are taken to London in the '40s, during the middle of air raids, bombings and destruction. The set design and wardrobe is all very drab in muted black and grey reflecting the tone of the environment. Wickedly creative is the choreography, the sets, the costumes, lighting and sound, not to mention the score by Prokofiev. Cinderella Opus 87 is such a melodious wonderland for a choreographer and his artistic team to work with. There is such power, intensity and magic in this lively piece. In Sir Matthew Bourne's hands, and feet, it is a fabulous, imaginative display of artistry and brilliance.

'Cinderella' is a thrilling and evocative love story, set in London during the Second World War. Bourne's interpretation of the classic fairy tale has, at its heart, a true war-time romance.

With direction and choreography by Matthew Bourne and music by Prokofiev, "Cinderella" will open on February 6 at 8 p.m. and performances will continue through March 10, 2019.
