BWW Review: HUMBLE BOY, Orange Tree Theatre
by Aliya Al-Hassan - Mar 13, 2018

The first major revival of Charlotte Jones' play Humble Boy is another interesting choice by the Orange Tree's Artistic Director Paul Miller. It is surely a challenge to pull off a play that combines astrophysics, bee-keeping and Shakespearean family angst, but Miller achieves this in a neat and clever way, whilst maintaining tenderness and gentle comedy.

BWW Review: POISON, Orange Tree Theatre
by Aliya Al-Hassan - Nov 7, 2017

A bereaved couple meet after a long separation. Stilted pleasantries give way to raw accusations and brutal truths. It would be very easy for Poison to be a melodramatic hour and twenty minutes of trite pain, closure and gaining the strength to move on. Thankfully this UK premiere of Lot Vekemans' critically acclaimed two-hander avoids all such obvious clich s to produce a production of immense subtlety and sensitivity.

BWW Review: A DARK NIGHT IN DALSTON, Park Theatre
by Debbie Gilpin - Mar 14, 2017

Stewart Permutt's two-hander is the latest piece to run in Park Theatre's Park90 performance space, running alongside Action To The Word's A Clockwork Orange in Park200. As the play begins it looks like it will be a study on religious intolerance and culture clash, but as it goes on it tries to deal with the weighty topic of mental health. This lack of focus is one of the play's biggest failings.
