Terrific Production Deserves to Be Seen

Crossing cultures and performance styles, Central Square Theater unveils its third and most dynamic season yet, featuring a World Premiere musical, a Haitian folktale by Derek Walcott, a beautiful trilogy about the Israel-Palestine conflict, and a classic by Eugene O'Neill.

West Palm Beach's only resident professional theatre, Palm Beach Dramaworks will kick off its 11th Anniversary season with George Bernard Shaw's play 'Candida' on Wednesday, October 6th (8PM) at their intimate downtown theatre (322 Banyan Boulevard). The season will continue with a distinguished roster of plays including the southeast premiere of 'Freud's Last Session' by Mark St. Germain, 'Dinner With Friends' by Donald Margulies and 'The Beauty Queen of Leenane' by Martin McDonagh.

The DC area stages' theatre choices in March are dizzying! There's a new play by Terrence McNally at the Kennedy Center, and an off-Broadway gem at Signature Theatre. Adam Guettel's gorgeous Tony Award-winning harmonies will fill Arena Stage in Crystal City. Fagin and his orphans and zaftig Edna Turnblad and her daughter Tracy - will be singing and dancing at Toby's Dinner Theatre in Baltimore and Columbia, MD, and a blood-thirsty musical will be establishing roots at Ford's Theatre. With over 30 shows opening this month, come visit the DC area's 205 theatre venues, and have a monumental time!

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), under the leadership of Julianne Boyd, Artistic Director, and Richard M. Parison, Jr., Producing Director, announces two more productions to complete the season on Stage 2-Freud's Last Session and The Memory Show-as well as two limited engagements of Bill Nelson's All-Male Revue.

The 2010 Helen Hayes Awards, one of the most prestigious theatrical honors in the country, has nominated Rep Stage, the professional theatre in residence at Howard Community College, for a total of six awards, including top production honors for 'Wittenberg' as Outstanding Resident Play.

Award-winning Composer, lyricist and writer Eric Woolfson died from cancer in the early hours of the 2nd December 2009, at age 64.

Arena Stage presents an innovative take on the world's longest-running musical, The Fantasticks by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt. Director Amanda Dehnert (Oregon Shakespeare Festival‘s All's Well That Ends Well and Stratford Shakespeare Festival's Cabaret) and famed set designer Eugene Lee (Tony Award for Broadway's Wicked, Candide, Sweeney Todd) take a spin on this timeless love story by staging it in Rocky Point, an abandoned amusement park in Rhode Island. This whimsical twist on the classic musical is full of buoyant humor, charming music and incredible magic that will thrill audiences of all ages. The Fantasticks runs November 20, 2009 - January 10, 2010 at Arena Stage at the Lincoln Theatre, with an official opening on Friday, November 27, 2009.
