Emerging Cameroonian artist Blick Bassy debuts new single “Mpodol” today. The song honors former Cameroonian leader Um Nyobé, translating to “He who carries the voice of his people.” The single precedes Bassy's forthcoming album 1958 which is set for release on June 21 via No Format/Tôt ou Tard/IDOL. Watch/share the video for “Mpodol” HERE. Pre-order the album HERE. Bassy will celebrate the new release with a special performance at SummerStage in New York on June 30. He is currently on tour in Europe.

Today, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah released his new album Ancestral Recall via Ropeadope / Stretch Music. So far the album has also been praised by New York Times, Afropunk, Highsnobiety, Stereogum, Consequence of Sound, HipHopDX, Cool Hunting, Brooklyn Vegan, Exclaim!, Glide, Paste, and more. Collaborators on Ancestral Recall include Saul Williams, Elena Pinderhughes, Mike Larry Draw, Chris Turner, Weedie Braimah, Logan Richardson, and others.

Today, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah releases “Forevergirl,” the second single from his upcoming album Ancestral Recall (out March 22nd via the Ropeadope / Stretch Music labels). Featuring Chris Turner and Mike Larry Draw, the song was praised by The FADER who called it “a hypersyncopated but blissful love song.”  So far the album has also been praised by New York Times, Afropunk, Highsnobiety, Stereogum, Consequence of Sound, HipHopDX, Cool Hunting, Brooklyn Vegan, and Paste, who said “the future of jazz is here and Adjuah is shattering boundaries in incredible ways.” Additional collaborators on Ancestral Recall include Saul Williams, Elena Pinderhughes, Weedie Braimah, Logan Richardson, and others.

Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah announces a March 22, 2019 release for his forthcoming album Ancestral Recall (via the Ropeadope / Stretch Music labels). Released today, the album's title track features poet laureate Saul Williams. Of the song, Highsnobiety proclaims that Adjuah “craft[s] rhythm-driven zones that are as transcendent as they are grounded in richly organic sonics.” Additional collaborators on the recording include Elena Pinderhughes, Weedie Braimah, Logan Richardson, Mike Larry Draw, Chris Turner, and others.

My Brightest Diamond Announces WC Headline Tour

My Brightest Diamond is excited to announce a short West Coast headline run at the end of February 2019 that will be rounding out their Noise Pop Festival 2019 performance alongside Beirut, Bob Mould and Teenage Fanclub among others.  The February tour follows a December North American trek with Stars and November European and UK trek with Ian Chang.  The week-long February West Coast run has My Brightest Diamond visiting Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland and Vancouver where they'll be playing songs from their forthcoming new studio album A Million And One – out November 23rd via Rhyme & Reason Records.

New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) is pleased to announce the presentation of a $7,500 grant funded by the Alan M. & Mildred S. Ravenal Foundation. The NYWIFT Ravenal Foundation Grant supports the production of a dramatic feature film from a female second-time feature film director over 40 years of age. Grant funds may be used for pre-production, production, or post-production.
