The Ruth Page Center for the Arts is offering free dance and fitness classes for children and adults at their next Open House on Sunday, August 10 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Held in the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn St., beginner classes will be offered for children in Pre-Dance (ages 3-6), Acrobatics and Hip Hop (ages 7+), and beginner adult classes in Pilates, Salsa, Afro Cuban, Contemporary Modern, Tai Chi, Jazz and Ballet, with more classes to be released on the Ruth Page website. CDI/Concert Dance Inc. (CDI) returns as part of the Ruth Page Festival of Dance and marks the opening event of the 2014 Ravinia Season Thursday, June 5 and Friday, June 6 st 7:30 p.m. in Ravinia's Bennett Gordon Hall Ravinia is located at 418 Sheridan Rd., Highland Park and gates to the event open at 6:30 p.m. Regularly commissioned by Ravinia to present new works, the CDI performance includes the world premiere of "Four Last Songs" choreographed by Artistic Director Venetia Stifler and uses dancers and live vocals, piano and violin accompaniment in a new compositional reduction inspired by songs written shortly before Richard Strauss' death, Reserved seating tickets are available for $10 and may be purchased at www.ravinia.org or via phone by calling 847.266.5100. DanceWorks Chicago Set for Harris Theater's EAT + DRINK TO THE BEAT, 5/7

DanceWorks Chicago (DWC), under the direction of Andreas Bottcher and Julie Nakagawa, will return to the Harris Theater for Music and Dance on Wednesday, May 7 at 5:30PM for the third Eat + Drink to the Beat of the Theater's 2013-2014 season. The Harris Theater launched the inaugural Eat + Drink to the Beat performance with a program by DanceWorks Chicago this past January. The award-winning dance ensemble will once again present new works of the company repertoire, including aman, choreographed by Ruth Page Award winner Harrison McEldowney and aerial dance specialist Jeremy Plummer, and the Chicago premiere of self-portrait of a woman by Stuttgart Ballet Resident Choreographer Demis Volpi. The Ruth Page Center for the Arts will hold its annual Ruth Page Gala at the Chicago Yacht Club, 400 E. Monroe St., Saturday, May 10. The evening begins at 5:45 p.m. with an Admiral and Commodore VIP Reception, followed by dinner and dancing at 7 p.m. - 11 p.m. Entertainment for the evening will consist of the Distinguished Service Award Presentation to Newberry Library, live performances, live and silent auctions and music by internationally renowned DJ (and Ruth Page Alum) Lady D. Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) along with Chicago's civic and cultural leaders celebrate William Shakespeare's 450th Birthday with the premiere of 'Our City, Our Shakespeare,' a documentary exploring Shakespeare's enduring presence in Chicago, featuring Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Art Institute of Chicago, Joffrey Ballet, among others. Produced by Emmy award-winning HMS Media, the program premieres May 1 at 8:00 p.m. on WTTW Channel 11. Shakespeare's 450th birthday on April 23 begins the internationally recognized Shakespeare Quadricentennial Celebration through 2016, marking 400 years of Shakespeare's legacy since his death in 1616. RPM Productions announces their original production La Journee des Tziganes, The Day of the Gypsies, to take place at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave., April 11 - 12. The vibrant music and dance production features the John Jorgenson gypsy jazz quintet live onstage with the bravura choreography of RPM director and choreographer Gordon Peirce Schmidt.
