At the Theatre Guild's end of year celebrations held on Thursday 5 December 2013, Chair Ben McCann was delighted to reveal the Guild's 2014 programme, to be presented in the Little Theatre throughout the year:

Deadline writes that producer Steven Spielberg is eyeing Baz Luhrmann to direct Stanley Kubrick's unproduced Napoleon screenplay as a miniseries for HBO.

The sultry, stylish world of "Moulin Rouge" meets the silk-and-diamond decadence of "The Great Gatsby" in "For The Record: Baz Luhrmann" as Lurhmann's best films spring to life before your eyes in this theatrical concert. Powerhouse performers from music, stage and screen fill the space around you with iconic scenes and songs from "Moulin Rouge," "Romeo + Juliet," "Strictly Ballroom" and "The Great Gatsby." In this special holiday extension of the popular For the Record show, Rockwell: Table & Stage will be decked-out with seasonal decor while the back patio will be transformed into a Gatsby-style 1920s' retreat. TWELFTH NIGHT and RICHARD III, starring the Tony-winning, incomparable Mark Rylance, have adopted a creative leniency with the characters' gender - though Shakespeare's staple to command his characters to don the garb of a member of the opposite sex, for reasons interwoven in love and lust, greed and vengeance, is a common thread running throughout his romantic repertoire.

I was invited to review THE MISANTHROPE written by Moliere performed by the students of Rocky Mountain High School. They did something different this year, they have two casts and did the play in two different styles. One cast performed the play in 1910's style of acting and the other cast performed it in the modern style.

'Romeo & Juliet,' Shakespeare's popular romantic tragedy of two star-crossed lovers, opens on the Wagner College Theatre's Main Stage on Nov. 13 for a two-week run. It's a timeless story of young passions caught between the feuding Capulet and Montague families.

The Michigan Shakespeare Festival is proud to announce the opening of their 2013/2014 Touring Performances. Lindsay Pearce is best known for being one of the runners-up on The Glee Project, which gave her a recurring role on the Fox TV show GLEE. In the third season premiere of Glee, Pearce was introduced as Harmony, an ambitious and talented singer who awes characters Kurt and Rachel when they watch her and her group sing a mash-up of 'Anything Goes' from the musical Anything Goes and 'Anything You Can Do' from the musical Annie Get Your Gun. After a sold out, two-week run and rave reviews, Three Day Hangover is extending R+J: Star-Cross'd Death Match, their Romeo & Juliet Shakespeare drinking theatrical extravaganza performed in a bar with audience participation.
