American Lyric Theater Alumni Series to Begin at National Sawdust Next Weekend

American Lyric Theater is proud to launch a new series, ALT Alumni: Composers and Librettists in Concert, celebrating the successes of its Composer Librettist Development Program. The series includes two upcoming concerts at the brand new National Sawdust, November 15, 2015 and February 7, 2016, each featuring excerpts from five different operas with scores and/or librettos written by alumni of the CLDP.

Lawrence Edelson, Producing Artistic Director of American Lyric Theater (ALT), has announced that OPERA IN EDEN, an evening of one act operas written by Resident Artists from ALT's Composer Librettist Development Program, will return to the Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Symphony Space on Monday, June 16th, 2014, at 7:00 PM. The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announces three events taking place in conjunction with the exhibition Behind Our Scenes at SPACE gallery in the Cultural District. The exhibition by five photographic artists exploring the relationship between the two-dimensional form and physical space through photographic installations and constructions is guest curated by Jen Saffron and is on view through January 26, 2014. American Lyric Theater Announces $150,000 Grant for Opera Composers and Librettists

Lawrence Edelson, Producing Artistic Director of American Lyric Theater (ALT), announced today that the company has been awarded a $150,000 grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support capacity building and the national expansion of the company's Composer Librettist Development Program (CLDP), the only full-time professional mentorship initiative for emerging operatic writers in the country.
