The first of three Monday evening new-play readings at South Coast Repertory for the 2018-19 season will be Eureka Day by Jonathan Spector. The NewSCRipts reading on Monday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m., is directed by Jennifer Chambers. Tickets are available at www.scr.org.
87 Artists Awarded Fall-Winter MacDowell Fellowships

The MacDowell Colony has awarded fellowships to 87 artists from 19 states and six countries, from Oregon to Alabama and from Australia to Sweden. Sixty-seven are first-time Fellows. They are working in seven disciplines, and 27 percent identify as culturally diverse. The fellowships are for upcoming autumn and early winter residencies at one of the nation's leading contemporary arts organizations.

Zachary James Steps Down From Opera Ithaca

Opera Ithaca has announced that Zachary James, Founder and General Director of Opera Ithaca, has stepped down from his position. Opera Ithaca has planned a national search for the vacant position while Artistic Director Lynn Craver and Board of Directors Treasurer Dan Taylor will run the company in the interim. Opera Ithaca's previously announced 5th season will continue as scheduled with James returning to the company to direct Hamlet and sing Carl Magnus in a Little Night Music.

The 2018/2019 season will include Hamlet, A Little Night Music, La bohème and a double bill of Francesca Caccini's Liberation (La Liberazione di Ruggiero) and the world premiere of Kamala Sankaram and Rob Handel's Enchantress.

Artists Rep & Isinglass Partner to Host Summer Theatre Leadership Academy for High School Students

Artists Repertory Theatre is partnering with local arts advocacy non-profit Isinglass to offer Egg, the organization's three year-old summer theatre leadership academy. Egg is an intensive seven-week program that teaches high school students the art and business of producing their own theatrical production. This summer 2017 program concludes with a week-long planning session for students to develop theatre and arts advocacy projects which they implement in their own schools during the following school year.
