Just Theatre's Glen Berger's UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL Begins Tonight

By:

Just Theater continues it's 2013 summer season with the outrageously funny and madly literate UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL by Glen Berger the second production of it's 2013 summer season, running in repertory with A MAZE by Rob Handel from today, July 20 - August 4th on Mon.& Wed. at 8 PM: Sat. & Sun. at 3 PM at Live Oak Theatre.

A mystery begins in UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL when a Dutch librarian embarks on a worldwide trip to track down a 113 year overdue book scofflaw, leading to a mystery as old as Christ. His quest to find the culprit takes him across the world and leads to an earth shattering discovery. An exploration of how we find and define the meaning of existence and the mysteries of life. Glen Berger's UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL is a solo show featuring MICK MIZE as the Librarian, fresh from a year with Cirque du Soleil's Dralion.

"In Underneath the Lintel nothing is as it appears -- especially this eccentric and seemingly insignificant librarian. The quest for a library fugitive forces him to ask frightening questions. This intimate play, with its transformative language, reveals a vastness in lovely surprises." remarks director Mina Morita. At the Los Angeles premiere by The Actors Gang of Glen Berger's UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL the L.A. Weekly said "Glen Berger's modern fable is outrageously funny, madly literate, a blissfully ludicrous vision quest, ... a stunner."

"With this season Just Theater introduces two compelling new voices to Bay Area audiences that push the boundaries of structure and form..."states Just Theater's artistic director Jonathan Spector. "A MAZE asks deep moral and ethical questions about what kind of behavior we excuse. LINTEL tackles the question from the opposite end. It's an existential detective story, plumbing the depths to discover how even the most inconsequential life can be extraordinary. - Jonathan Spector, AD Just Theater.
