Dubbed the "Oscars of Dance", the Bessies have been recognizing NYC's outstanding performers, choreographers, musicians, and designers ever since 1984. Established by David R. White at Dance Theater Workshop in honor of legendary dance teacher Bessie Schonberg, the awards ceremonies have treated full houses to performances and presentations by established and emerging artists for more than three decades.

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced the complete list of the 2015-16 season award recipients tonight at the 32nd Annual Bessie Awards ceremony. Awards were presented in the categories of Outstanding Production, Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Music Composition/Sound Design, and Outstanding Visual Design, with additional awards presented for Lifetime Achievement and Outstanding Service to the Field of Dance. On the weekend of October 15 & 16, 2016, Taylor 2 returned to the Schimmel Center at Pace University to bring some of our favorite Paul Taylor pieces to a cozy and intimate setting. Taylor 2 was established in 1993 as a way to ensure Mr. Taylor's work could be seen by all audiences, even in the smallest of venues.

Dance lovers and performers alike gathered on the shores of the Hudson River on October 8, 2016, to celebrate the fourth annual Hudson Valley Dance Festival in Catskill, NY. The two performances at Historic Catskill Point raised a record-breaking $136,767 for Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The shows featured performances ranging from tap to ballet to contemporary by acclaimed dance.

Frances Ruffelle Headlines First Major London Production of THE WILD PARTY

As Michael John LaChiusa's The Wild Party will receive its first major London production at The Other Palace, playing from Saturday 11 February to Saturday 1 April 2017, with a press night on Monday 20 February. Directed and choreographed by 2016 Olivier Award winner Drew McOnie and starring Tony Award winner Frances Ruffelle, The Wild Party will be the inaugural production at The Other Palace, formerly St. James Theatre, when it reopens in February 2017 as the newest addition to The Really Useful Theatres Group and a home for new musical theatre.

Andrew Lloyd Webber today announces plans for The Other Palace, the newest addition to The Really Useful Theatres Group. The Other Palace is situated less than 100 yards from Buckingham Palace and close to the Victoria Palace, hence its name.

Joining the cast from tonight 16 September are Arun Blair-Mangat as 'Benny' ('Kinky Boots'); Juliet Gough as 'Camilla' ('Matilda') and Stephanie Rojas as 'Carla' ('Wonder.land'). Sarah Naudi, who has been with the show since it opened at the Southwark Playhouse in 2014, will play the role of 'Vanessa' and Damian Buhagiar returns to the production as 'Sonny', having originated the role in 2014.
