Under the artistic direction of David Parsons, Parsons Dance presents uplifting, family-friendly contemporary dance to audiences around the world.

Comprised of eight full-time dancers and a repertory of more than 70 works by David Parsons, Parsons Dance has collabored with some of the most talented emerging choreographers and musicians of our time, including Steely Dan, Dave Matthews, Michael Gordon, Milton Nascimento, William Ivey Long, Annie Leibovitz, Donna Karan and Alex Katz, among many others.

In addition to choreography and performance, Parsons Dance engages audiences of all ages through education and outreach programs. The company hosts post-show discussions, open rehearsals, studio showcases and open company classes, as well as three weeks of summer workshops in dance and choreography. In spring 2014, Parsons Dance partnered with Democracy Prep Public Schools to incorporate contemporary dance into the full-time curricula of K-12 students. During their time at the Lisa Smith Wengler Center for the Arts, they will provide a free performance for grade school children in the Center for the Arts' ARTSReach program, which provides free performances from professional musicians, dancers, and theatre artists to over 5,000 schoolchildren each year.

Artistic Director David Parsons founded Parsons Dance in 1985 with lighting designer Howell Binkley. Since then, Mr. Parsons has created works through commissions from Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, the American Dance Festival, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, New York City Ballet, Paul Taylor Dance Company, the Spoleto Festival, and Het Muziektheater in Amsterdam, among others. His works have also been performed by Batsheva Dance Company of Israel, English National Ballet, Feld Ballets/NY, Hubbard Street Dance Company, Nederlands Dans Theatre, and Paris Opera Ballet, among many others. He choreographed and directed the dance elements for Times Square 2000, the 24-hour festivities in Times Square celebrating the turn of the Millennium.
