As the National Theatre’s acclaimed production of The Ocean at the End of the Lane opens at The Duke of York’s Theatre in the West End, a final three-week extension is announced. Due to popular demand, the first major stage adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s work will now run until 14 May 2022.

“Remembering is not different from imagining” says Old Mrs Hemlock to the Boy, all grown up now, as he tries to secure his recollection of the past. Neil Gaiman’s book The Ocean at the End of the Lane is bewitching. It holds a deep pull for people of all ages, who find common ground in it. It’s an incredible feat to take everything that the novel is and translate its feeling and atmosphere for the stage. Writer Joel Horwood and director Katy Rudd achieve the impossible.

Our national obsession with property prices has a long history. Back in 1989, Stephen Jeffreys targeted the seismic social and financial changes of the decade with his play Valued Friends. A caustic commentary on Thatcher's Britain and the explosion of property prices, it was a hit when it premiered in 1989 at the Hampstead Theatre and earned Jeffreys Most Promising Playwright awards from both the Critics' Circle and Evening Standard.
Michael Fentiman's brand new production at Kingston's Rose Theatre is the first revival of the play in thirty years and bristles with nostalgia, yet lacks real substance.

Michael Fentiman directs Natalie Casey (Sherry), Ralph Davis (Scott), Sam Frenchum (Paul), Michael Marcus (Howard), Catrin Stewart (Marion) and Nicolas Tennant (Stewart). The production opens at Rose Theatre Kingston on 26 September, with previews from 20 September, and runs until 12 October.

The National Theatre today announced two extra matinees for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time on Tuesday 14 February and Tuesday 30 May 2017. Curious Incident has its final West End performance at the Gielgud Theatre on Saturday 3 June 2017.
