Birdland has announced its upcoming May program!

As part of its 2019 Spring Puppet Performance Series, the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut is pleased to present Goldilocks and the Three Bears by Stevens Puppets of Indiana on April 27, 2019 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Ballard Institute Theater, located at 1 Royce Circle in Downtown Storrs.

To celebrate the release of beloved songwriter, guitarist and singer JJ Cale's Stay Around, Because Music will release an exclusive 7' vinyl for Record Store Day on April 13. The B-side features “Worrying Off Your Mind,” a bonus track from 2009's Roll On.

Today Sam Fender is very pleased to share the video for his new single, “Hypersonic Missiles” via Interscope. East Nashville artists Kim and Scott Collins, who make music as The Smoking Flowers, have revealed 'Let's Get Happy' featuring Deer Tick's John McCauley, the second track off their forthcoming acoustic album Snowball Out of Hell. '

Peppa Pig, George and their friends are back with a brand new show. Peppa Pig Live! Peppa Pig's Adventure visits The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts on Friday, September 6 at 6pm. Tickets are on sale now to members and to the public on Friday, April 5 at 10am.

The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles will become 'A Sonic Temple' on June 15 with a diverse multi-act bill that has roots in THE CULT lead singer Ian Astbury's pioneering pre-Lollapalooza festival 'A Gathering of the Tribes'(1990). Prayers, Zola Jesus and Vowws will join headliners THE CULT for this very special night that will also mark the 30th anniversary of the band's multi-platinum, game-changing album Sonic Temple. Tickets for the show go on sale Friday, April 5 at 10:00 AM (PT). Purchase tickets here.

Few musicians know what it's like to leave New Orleans for California, record an album with a few absolutely legendary musicians, and return home in time to release said album and play the main stage at one of the world's most beloved music festivals—but by the time the second weekend of New Orlean's Jazz and Heritage Festival rolls around, Anders Osborne will. On April 26th, Osborne'sBuddha and the Blues will be released worldwide on Back On Dumaine Records. With the title in hand from the start, Osborne had a clear vision of how his new record should resonate, noting that, “Buddha and the Blues means the duality of our existence. The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts is honored to be one of only a handful of New England organizations to receive a Challenge America Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts from a national pool of applicants. The $10,000 grant will support the theatre's Adopt-A-School program. Endowment for the Arts Acting Chairman Mary Anne Carter recently approved more than $27 million in grants as a part of the arts endowment's first major funding announcement for fiscal year 2019. Challenge America grants support projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations of those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics or disability.

Big Search has shared the second single from his upcoming album Slow Fascination to be released April 12 on Danger Mouse's 30th Century Records (Broken Bells, Grandaddy, The Babe Rainbow). Brooklyn Vegan premiered 'Stillness In The Air,' calling it 'a catchy, airy indie rock song with an '80s pop backbone.' James Mercer and Kacey Johansing lent radiant vocals to the track and Rob Barbato provided the gliding guitar that steers them. Today's release follows 'Here Comes The Night' hailed by Billboard as a 'mellow yet impactful rock tune.' Big Search will play a string of West Coast dates this summer as direct support for Pure Bathing Culture. Once referred to as the 'Rock Poster God' artist Jim Evans will be exhibiting rare and early prints from his personal collection at the Mayfair Hotel (1256 W 7th St) in Los Angeles, CA located inside their Regime Contemporary Art Gallery starting with the grand opening March 29th - 6 to 11 pm and running through March 30th - noon through to 6 pm. Regime Contemporary Gallery is curated by LA Graffiti legend Kelly 'RISK' Gravel and will be home to some iconic rock posters from Jim Evans, including show posters for Nine Inch Nails, Ramones, Smashing Pumpkins and Pixies.

Meat Puppets original lineup - Curt and Cris Kirkwood and returning drummer Derrick Bostrom - are back with Dusty Notes (Megaforce), marking their first album together since 1995's No Joke!.  The Puppets' US tour begins April 4 and tickets are on sale now.      

The Smoking Flowers, made of East Nashville-based artists Kim and Scott Collins, have shared new track “(Still) Here For You Now,” the lead single off their forthcoming album Snowball Out of Hell. The acoustic album, set for release on June 21st, follows 2018's rock-oriented Let's Die Together; both albums will be released together as a deluxe double album digitally and on vinyl. '(Still) Here For You Now,' one of two tracks that appears on both albums, is the reimagined version of 'Here 4 U Now' which is featured on  Let's Die Together. Both albums were conceived during Kim's battle-and later triumph-over an aggressive form of breast cancer.
