Surfside Players is proud to announce their events in September! First they will present the satirical farce, THE MUSICAL COMEDY MURDERS OF 1940, by John Bishop. Performances are scheduled from September 14th through the 30th on the three weekends. After the Opening Weekend are auditions for the extraordinary 1984 Tony-winning Broadway musical, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES.

Mine Entertainment Group has announced a one-night only benefit performance of the one-act play, "Katrina Who?!" taking place on Wednesday, September 19 (8PM) at The Zephyr Theatre in West Hollywood. Written and directed by Melanie Maria Goodreaux, "Katrina Who?!" honors the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina through the personal stories of five NOLA residents who recount the destruction, devastation, survival and triumph in the aftermath of the deadliest and most destructive hurricane of 2005.

The stars were out this week at 54 Below. Stars ranging from Hollywood's Bradley Cooper and Academy Award nominee Amy Irving to Tony Award winners Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, David Hyde Pierce, Betty Buckley, John Benjamin Hickey, Ron Rifkin, John Kander, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman were in attendance for Victor Garber's final performance at the venue on August 20. Sarah RIce, who co-starred opposite Garber' as Johanna in the original Broadway cast of Sweeney Todd, also stopped backstage for a reunion. Earlier in the week, Academy Award nominee Patricia Clarkson and vocalist Tom Postilio came out for Hilary Kole's opening night.

The event will honor Tony Award winner Tyne Daly (Master Class, Rabbit Hole, Gypsy), and producers and Primary Stages board members Jamie deRoy, and Ted Snowdon. The Gala Chair is Tom Kirdahy.
