BWW Review: HER OPPONENT Recreates Clinton/Trump Debates With Genders SwitchedBWW Review: HER OPPONENT Recreates Clinton/Trump Debates With Genders Switched
by Michael Dale - May 11, 2017

As it pertains to the 2016 presidential election, the title HER OPPONANT doesn't necessarily refer to Donald Trump. As the first woman to top the ticket of one of America's major political parties, the name of co-creators Joe Salvatore (who also directs) and Maria Guadalupe's fascinating theatre piece could also refer to a number of Hillary Clinton's opponents, such as the public's lingering prejudices against women, the perception of her as an elitist Washington insider or just being a politician cursed with accusations of not being likeable. by Alexa Criscitiello - Apr 9, 2017

This season welcomed the very first Broadway production of the August Wilson drama, Jitney. Based on the real-life cab services of the 1970's which would service clients of color when regular taxi cabs would not, the story examines the relationships of the community in and around a jitney station in Pittsburgh's Hill District. Being the last play of Wilson's American Century Cycle to reach the Main Stem, the production adds the final jewel to the crown of August Wilson's sterling Broadway legacy. (more...)

BWW Review: Nikka Graff Lanzarone Steps into the Spotlight, Paying Tribute to Her Role Models in HERO WORSHIP at Feinstein's/54 BelowBWW Review: Nikka Graff Lanzarone Steps into the Spotlight, Paying Tribute to Her Role Models in HERO WORSHIP at Feinstein's/54 Below
by Casey Mink - Mar 2, 2017

If Nikka Graff Lanzarone was going to make sure of one thing through her Feinstein's/54 Below debut show HERO WORSHIP on February 23, it was that her audience would leave knowing how to properly say her name. Thus emerged the concept of her solo show. Using the sentient direction of Robbie Rozelle, Lanzarone pieced together through songs and video accompaniment a stroll through her life and burgeoning career, filling the show with exuberance and laughter, vocal prowess and, unexpectedly, a few tears.
