Since its founding in 1961, La MaMa Experimental Arts Club has been a hub for risk-taking theater artists from around the globe. La MaMa will celebrate their 2013 season of performances with a gala honoring two pillars of arts journalism: former Village Voice critic Michael Feingold, and publisher Patsy Tarr of 2wice. Throughout their long careers, these two individuals have carved out a voice for the arts, championing countless artists working across platforms.

A Red Orchid Theatre presents the U.S. premiere of Solstice, written by Zinnie Harris and directed by Ensemble Member Karen Kessler. The production will run January 9 - February 23, 2014 at A Red Orchid Theatre, 1531 N. Wells. Press Opening is Monday, January 13, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.

At the gala 45th Annual Equity Jeff Awards held at Drury Lane Oakbrook on Monday, November 4, Steppenwolf Theatre Company's 'Good People' received the award for Production-Play in a large tier theatre. Principal Actress Mariann Mayberry was also honored for her role in this David Lindsey-Abaire play, which considers the dangerous consequences of holding on to the past or leaving it behind. William Brown received Best Director of a play for Writers Theatre's production of the French farce 'The Liar', adapted by David Ives.

Theatre for a New Audience's inaugural production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by multiple Tony Award-winner Julie Taymor with original music composed by Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning Elliot Goldenthal, opened on November 2 at the Theatre's newly-named building, Polonsky Shakespeare Center, 262 Ashland Place between Lafayette Avenue and Fulton Street, Brooklyn. The Chicago Humanities Festival (CHF) announced casting today for two theatrical productions in November: White Rabbit, Red Rabbit, the Iranian absurdist play about isolation co-presented with the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), running today, Nov. 3-9, 2013, and Birds Do It, Bees Do It..., the annual cabaret performance Nov. 5, 2013, created by Rob Lindley and Doug Peck.

Tony Award nominee Craig Lucas' acclaimed play RECKLESS returns to New York on October 28h, 2013 at 8pm for a one-night only benefit reading in the Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street), directed by Kate Whoriskey (Ruined) and featuring an all-star cast. All proceeds will benefit Safe Horizon(www.safehorizon.org), 'the largest organization of its kind in the United States that helps victims overcome crisis and become survives as they restore their lives'.
