Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz announced today that Brooklyn Borough Hall will be illuminated in blue and white on August 26 in observance of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mother Teresa and the colors of her religious order.

Parks to Cut Ribbon on Restored Leif Ericson Field

Parks & Recreation Commissioner Adrian Benepe today joined City Council Member Vincent Gentile to cut the ribbon on over $2.7 million in renovations to the former 'Dust Bowl' at Leif Ericson Park. At the event, Council Member Gentile announced a renaming contest for the new field.

Brooklyn Jazz was celebrated this April, known nationally as Jazz Appreciation Month, during the 11th Annual Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival from March 27th to April 30th. From Coney Island to Bushwick Brooklyn's contributions to the jazz world and its talents were showcased to nearly 5,000 tourists and New Yorkers with 37 events.

On Saturday, April 17, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will join Megan Kerrigan of Marine Park at Brooklyn Borough Hall as hundreds of free couture prom dresses are distributed to deserving high school girls. Kerrigan has been handing out donated dresses since 2001, and this is the first time the event has been held in her home borough of Brooklyn. Kerrigan expects more than 1,700 girls from 35 Brooklyn schools and beyond to attend.
