Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz announced today that Brooklyn Borough Hall will be illuminated in blue and white on August 26 in observance of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mother Teresa and the colors of her religious order.

Parks & Recreation Commissioner Adrian Benepe today joined City Council Member Vincent Gentile to cut the ribbon on over $2.7 million in renovations to the former 'Dust Bowl' at Leif Ericson Park. At the event, Council Member Gentile announced a renaming contest for the new field.

Brooklyn Jazz was celebrated this April, known nationally as Jazz Appreciation Month, during the 11th Annual Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival from March 27th to April 30th. Kerrigan has been handing out donated dresses since 2001, and this is the first time the event has been held in her home borough of Brooklyn. Kerrigan expects more than 1,700 girls from 35 Brooklyn schools and beyond to attend.

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and City Councilwoman Letitia James, joined by health activists and community leaders in the Borough Hall Rotunda today to launch the Brooklyn Smoke-Free Partnership, a new organization created to build upon New York City's success at reducing tobacco-caused death and disease by focusing on local, community-level actions in Brooklyn neighborhoods.

Beginning today, Monday, March 15, Dine in Brooklyn patrons will have the opportunity to contribute to Share the Table, a fundraising campaign with the New York City Coalition Against Hunger (NYCCAH).

On Monday, March 15, Dine in Brooklyn, an initiative of Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Best of Brooklyn, Inc., will officially kick off eleven days of more than 200 Brooklyn restaurants serving up three-course dinner menus for just $25, three-course lunches for $20.10 and even some 'two for the price of one' deals at participating restaurants (list below).
