Shadowbox Presents LITTLE IS BIG & SING OUT FOR PEACE, 4/11

THE SHADOW BOX THEATRE, SANDRA ROBBINS, Founding Artistic Director, is pleased to announce LITTLE IS BIG & SING OUT FOR PEACE as part of its 2010 Sunday Family Theater Season at 45 Bleecker Street. In LITTLE IS BIG & SING OUT FOR PEACE, book, music, lyrics as well as original songs in "Sing" written by SANDRA ROBBINS and puppet show concept originally co-created with HAZEL FROUD, the vitality of diversity comes to life in this inspiring show. In an enchanted landscape deep beneath the sea, the little fish Spinny and his friends face up to a big bully of a fish and find courage, tolerance and the true meaning of friendship. At the conclusion they - and the children - learn to envision a more peaceful world. Following the puppet show, the audience joins in a stirring "Sing." There are wonderful original songs like "Many Colors" and "Same Inside" as well as international songs that speak to the hearts and minds of the audience about how, when we work together "Hand in Hand,! " we can create a peaceful world. The production is 55 minutes and is appropriate for children through 2nd grade. The production runs Sundays April 11, 18, 25, May 2, 9 at 11:00 am with special holiday weekday shows March 31and April 1 at 10:30am and 1:00 pm.

SANDRA ROBBINS, Founder and Artistic Director of The Shadow Box Theatre (SBT) began her career as a modern dancer. After earning a degree from Brooklyn College in Early Childhood Education she started a project called the Bloomingdale Family Program, to bring families of diverse backgrounds together to share their culture and the needs of their young children. After coordinating an "Arts in the Park" program in East and West Harlem, where she developed stories using shadow puppetry community residents urged her to create a theatre for children and The Shadow Box Theatre was born. Sandra has written, directed, and performed in over 20 musical puppet plays, created partnerships with Brooklyn Music Sc! hool Playhouse (beginning in 2007), and the Brooklyn YWCA (1989-2006).
