The Association on American Indian Affairs honored Shaun Taylor-Corbett (Blackfeet, Frankie Valli in the Jersey Boys National Tour), Ernie Stevens, Jr. (Oneida, Chairman, National Indian Gaming Association) and Martha Redbone (Cherokee/Choctaw, Award Winning Recording Artist and Activist) last Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center (144 West 65 Street). Danny Bernardy is set to take on the role of leading male "Andrew Polinski" in the hit Off-Broadway comedy "My Big Gay Italian Wedding" opposite creator Anthony J. Wilkinson. Currently being played by Brandon Goins, Bernardy is set to step in for the winter season beginning January 10th every Saturday at 8pm.

The Joe A. Callaway Awards will be presented alongside the Fichandler Award this year tonight, November 3 in New York City.

In October, the UW World Series will present the world premiere of Antigona, a new work by Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca. Hailed by critics everywhere for its transcendent and deeply emotional performances, Noche Flamenca is one of the most authentic flamenco companies in the world today, and Soledad Barrio is its star. Now, in a unique creative partnership, this remarkable company joins with acclaimed American theater director Lee Breuer to create a new work, Antigona, based on Sophocles' ancient Greek heroine. Combining live music, song, and dance, Noche Flamenca's Antigona will bring the fiery, expressive nature of flamenco to one of the world's great tragedies in an evening-length work that promises to be both gripping and intensely moving. The work is conceived and directed by Martin Santangelo with choreography by Soledad Barrio, consulting direction by Lee Breuer, and visual and mask design by Mary Frank.

New York City Ballet Principal Dancer Wendy Whelan will bid farewell to New York City Ballet with a special one-time-only performance tonight, October 18 at 8 p.m. For the occasion, two of the dance world's most acclaimed choreographers, Alexei Ratmansky and Christopher Wheeldon, will collaborate on a world premiere piece d'occasion for Whelan.

The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) announces this season's Joe A. Callaway Award winners for Direction and Choreography from more than 200 eligible productions in the 2013-2014 New York City theatre season. This year's awards will be presented to John Rando for his direction of The Heir Apparent, produced by Classic Stage Company, and Martha Clarke for her choreography of Cheri, produced by Signature Theatre.

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) has announced the 2014-2015 Committee for the Joe A. Callaway Award, the only peer-given award for excellence in direction and choreography. The Committee, which will oversee the award for the theatre season, is Sue Lawless, William Martin, Barry McNabb, Leslie (Hoban) Blake, Linda Burson, Jonathan Cerullo, Edie Cowan, Clinton Turner Davis, John Going, Richard Hamburger, Bruce Heath, Michael Montel, DJ Salisbury, and Amy Saltz. Sue Lawless will serve as Committee Chair.

Colorado Ballet's Board of Trustees renewed Artistic Director Gil Boggs's contract for an additional five years. In recent weeks the cast and creative team of the new musical Queen Mother, which chronicles the life of Hannah Hill, Charlie Chaplin's troubled mother, have been in residence on the Goodspeed Musicals campus in East Haddam, Conn. The team assembled to develop this engaging piece in preparation for upcoming invite-only industry workshops at New York Live Arts on Thursday, July 31 and Friday, August 1, 2014. Broadway's Ashley Brown (Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast) and Katie Klaus (The Bridges of Madison County, Bonnie and Clyde) lead the cast.
