Cherry Lane Theatre's Founder's Project will celebrate 100 years of Horton Foote as they present, in a co-production with La Femme Theatre Productions, THE TRAVELING LADY, directed by Austin Pendleton. THE TRAVELING LADY will begin performances tonight and will open on June 22 running through July 16, 2017 at Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St.) in Greenwich Village. Just last night, the 8th Annual Lilly Awards Ceremony, which celebrates women of distinction in the American Theater, honored Julie Taymor, Denee Benton, Micki Grant,Toni-Leslie James, Mandy Greenfield, Madison Ferris, and Beanie Feldstein. Stephen Schwartz was this year's Miss Lilly.

Abingdon Theatre Company, under the artistic direction of Tony Speciale, presents the world premiere of CHESS MATCH NO. 5, conceived and directed by Anne Bogart, with text arranged by Jocelyn Clarke from the words of John Cage. Created by Siti Company, CHESS MATCH NO. 5 began previews March 9, and opened officially last night, March 19, in Abingdon's June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street).

Christine Scarfuto is the Long Wharf Theatre's literary manager and resident dramaturg. Never heard of that position? 'It's a pretty fascinating job,' she says, one that she discovered after being in college for a while. Her job at the Long Wharf Theatre includes providing articles about the play and/or playwright for the already impressive programs that are designed by graphic artist Claire Zoghb, and for setting up the lobby displays.

Just one week until the star-studded reading of RIGHT YOU ARE (IF YOU THINK YOU ARE) by Luigi Pirandello. Featuring Brian Murray, Laura Esterman, Lynn Cohen, Reg Rogers, Angela Pietropinto, Zoe Anastassiou, Sam Tsoutsouvas, Joel Bernstein and Kate Grimes, the reading is adapted and directed by John Martello. It will take place next Monday, October 17th at 7:30 p.m. at the Cherry Lane Theatre.
