In an effort to help children in the area most devastated by the recent flooding, Munster's Theatre at the Center, 1040 Ridge Road, will host a special free performance of their current Theatre for Young Audiences production, Max & Ruby. The benefit performance for these children from surrounding schools, as identified by Munster Town Manager Tom DiGiulio, will take place on October 16 at 11:15 a.m. Max & Ruby is a new musical based on the series of books by Rosemary Wells and the popular television program on Nick Jr. and Noggin. Theatre at the Center's Theatre for Young Audiences is recognized for bringing exciting, fun and educational productions to the stage. The energetic and hilarious production of Max & Ruby will run October 16 through October 18.

SoHo Rep's Artistic Director Sarah Benson has announced that Sarah Kane's bleak and controversial drama 'Blasted,' which according to The New York Times drew outrage from audiences and critics when it had its premiere in 1995 at the Royal Court Theater Upstairs in London, will make its American debut as the first show in that theater's 2008-9 season. 'Blasted' stars Marin Ireland, Reed Birney and Louis Cancelmi. Previews began October 2nd prior to an official press opening of October 9th at Soho Rep, and runs through October 26. Soho Rep Artistic Director Sarah Benson directs.

The Geffen Playhouse has added an additional two weeks of performances to the West Coast premiere of Neil LaBute's Fat Pig at its Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater.

In Fat Pig, which is making its West Coast debut at the Geffen Playhouse, LaBute goes deep into the psyche of insecure characters, as the subject of weight is discussed, actually argued over when a good-looking guy becomes attracted to a fat chick. Wordplay will present The Heart of My Mystery: The Hamlet Project, adapted by Barbara Bosch and Mark Ringer from the immortal work by William Shakespeare, at the Michael Weller Theatre (311 W. 43rd St., 6th fl.) from October 12th through October 29th, with opening night set for October 14th at 8 PM

The German play Arabian Night, by Roland Schimmelpfennig, will be presented in its New York premiere at the East 13th Street Theatre from May 31st through July 1st, with opening night set for June 12th
