THEATRE AT THE CENTER HOSTS BENEFIT PERFORMANCE OF MAX & RUBY FOR CHILDREN AFFECTED BY RECENT FLOODS

Local Elementary School children will attend production on October 16

In an effort to help children in the area most devastated by the recent flooding, Munster’s Theatre at the Center, 1040 Ridge Road, will host a special free performance of their current Theatre for Young Audiences production, Max & Ruby.  The benefit performance for these children from surrounding schools, as identified by Munster Town Manager Tom DiGiulio, will take place on October 16 at 11:15 a.m.  Max & Ruby is a new musical based on the series of books by Rosemary Wells and the popular television program on Nick Jr. and Noggin.  Theatre at the Center’s Theatre for Young Audiences is recognized for bringing exciting, fun and educational productions to the stage.  The energetic and hilarious production of Max & Ruby will run October 16 through October 18.

Rosemary Wells’ beloved bunny siblings come to life on stage in a fun-filled musical production for the whole family in Max & Ruby.  Seven year old Ruby and her little brother Max want to put on a play for Grandma.  However, as is typical with the mischievous Max and his older sister Ruby, some comedic hurdles arise along the way, and Ruby needs to call on her Bunny Scout friends to help them try to finish the play on time.

Max & Ruby features music and lyrics by Carol Hall (“Sesame Street”, Free to be… You and Me).  The production is directed by Randy White with choreography by Tracy Bersley.  The scenic design is by Louisa Thompson and the costumes are by Junghyun Georgia Lee.  This 60 minute musical is recommended for audiences ages three and up.

Founded in 1991, Theatre at the Center is a year-round professional, equity theater at its home, The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana.  Theatre at the Center is conveniently located off I-80/94, just 35 minutes from downtown Chicago.

Group performances are Thursday and Friday at 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.  Saturday, October 18 will be a public performance at 11 a.m.  Group prices are $6.50, adult tickets are $8.00 and groups 100 or more are $5.50 per person.  Public prices are children $7.00 and adults $8.50.  To purchase group tickets call 219.836.3258 and to purchase individual tickets call the Box Office at 219.836.3255 or Tickets.com at 800.511.1552.  For more information on Theater at the Center, visit www.TheatreAtTheCenter.com.
