The indomitable and generous spirit of the theatre community - those onstage, backstage and in the audience - shined brightly as the 29th annual Gypsy of the Year competition celebrated six weeks of fundraising work of 56 Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring companies for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Gypsy of the Year (#GypsyOfTheYear), which was held December 4 and 5, 2017, raised a record-breaking $5,609,211 for Broadway Cares. BroadwayWorld has photos from the star-studded affair below!

Broadway's brightest will celebrate six weeks of dedicated fundraising in a spectacular showcase of songs and skits when the 29th Annual Gypsy of the Year competition returns at 4:30 pm Monday, December 4, 2017, and at 2 pm Tuesday, December 5, 2017, produced by and benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Stars from Broadway's hottest shows, including Aladdin, A Bronx Tale, Come From Away, Dear Evan Hansen, Hamilton and Meteor Shower, will make special appearances at the 29th annual Gypsy of the Year competition on Monday, December 4, at 4:30 pm and Tuesday, December 5, at 2 pm.

The fourth season of New York Theatre Barn's Choreography Lab continues on Monday, September 18, 2017 at The Cell.

City of Light, a new musical by Gabrielle Wagner, Julie Weiner and Jan Roper with direction by Tony Award-winner Cady Huffman, will play three performances at the SheNYC Summer Theater Festival. 

City of Light has a charming musical theater score with music by Jan Roper, lyrics by Julie Weiner, and book by Gabrielle Wagner. The show will star Kimberly Immanuel (Pacific Overtures, The Fantasticks) as Molly. It will also feature Tony nominee Valarie Pettiford (Fosse, Big Deal), Anthony Norman (Newsies Nat'l Tour), Darren Bunch, Keri Safran, and Jack Cotterell.

Royal Family Productions, a theatre company known for its innovative productions and development of new original work, will present a unique adaptation of the celebrated novel Anne of Green Gables: Part 1 by L.M. Montgomery. This new one-woman shows has been adapted and directed by Chris Henry and choreographed by Lorna Ventura.

Royal Family Production (RFP) will present a benefit workshop presentation of the new musical Brass Heart by RFP associate artistic director Jessica Wu. The musical will be directed by Chris Henry with choreography by Lorna Ventura and will take place on Sunday, April 2nd with a special pre-show cocktail reception ($250, reception begins at 5pm) and Monday, April 3rdat 12:30pm. After a successful run at the Mercury Theatre, The Bardy Bunch: The War of the Families Partridge and Brady closed their doors on Sunday, October 23 to an excited crowd that included Bryan Cranston, the Emmy-winning actor best known for his role in Breaking Bad. THE BARDY BUNCH: The War of the Families Partridge and Brady, the musical parody by Stephen Garvey that gained cult status during its Off-Broadway run in 2014, runs in a limited engagement in Chicago, September 16 through November 20, at the Mercury Theater, 3745 N. Southport Avenue. The show's all-star cast will portray the Brady and Partridge families, just after the ABC Network ceased airing their chronicles in 1974, in a blood-soaked, vengeance-fueled, lust-filled crossover episode of Shakespearean proportions. Final performances of the acclaimed madcap comedy DROP DEAD PERFECT, starring the legendary Everett Quinton, will take place Oct 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th at Theatre at St. Clements (423 West 46 Street - between 9th and 10th Avenues) completing its limited engagement. The revival opened on August 23rd and received overwhelming rave reviews, critic picks, and audience accolades. DROP DEAD PERFECT is directed by Joe Brancato and written by Erasmus Fenn.
