The Playwrights Realm to Kick Off 2014 INK'D READING FESTIVAL, 5/12

The Playwrights Realm will present the annual INK'D Reading Festival from May 12 through May 15 at The Studio Theatre at Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street). The 2014 festival features the plays of Elizabeth Irwin (My Mañana Comes), Lila Rose Kaplan (123), Jason Gray Platt (The There There) and Amelia Roper (Lottie in the Late Afternoon). As previously announced, My Mañana Comes will receive a full production at The Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street) from August 26 to September 20, 2014.

Following previous seasons sold-out holiday hits, The Snow Queen and Hansel and Gretel, the A.R.T. Institute, in association with the Loeb Drama Center, brings another children's story to life - The Light Princess, by Lila Rose Kaplan with music by Mike Pettry, directed by Allegra Libonati, with choreography by Jeff and Rick Kuperman. American Repertory Theater to Offer Sensory-Friendly Performance of THE LIGHT PRINCESS, 1/3

American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) has scheduled a sensory-friendly performance of The Light Princess on Friday, January 3 at 2:00pm at the Loeb Drama Center, designed to create a welcoming environment for children with Autism spectrum disorders or other sensitivity issues. Slight alterations will be made to the performance, specially trained volunteers will be on hand, and quiet areas in the lobby will be available for children whoneed to take a break from the show. A social story and a character guide will be provided to all families prior to the performance, to help acclimate family members with Autism spectrum disorders or sensitivity issues to the experience of live theater.

David Wilson Barnes plays Charlie Duff, a burnt-out local newscaster who transforms first his community and then himself when he begins praying on-air in the Huntington Theatre Company's new production of Stephen Belber's moving new drama The Power of Duff. Amy Pietz ("The Office," "Caroline in the City") plays Duff's ex-wife Lisa, and Jennifer Westfeldt (Kissing Jessica Stein, Friends with Kids) plays Sue, Charlie's co-anchor, in the production helmed by Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois. Performances began on October 11 at the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA. The Power of Duff is produced in association with New York Stage and Film and Vassar's Powerhouse Theater. After an acclaimed premiere in San Diego, Wonderlist Productions and Neighborhood Productions presents the New York Premiere of BUREAU OF MISSING PERSONS by award-winning playwright Lila Rose Kaplan. Directed by Sarah Rasmussen, the production begins previews begin tonight, June 14 at New York Theatre Workshop's 4th Street Theater. Opening is slated for June 19.
