The search for redemption, humility and one's place in the world continues when the Latino Theater Company presents the final installment ofQuiara Alegria Hudes' acclaimed three-play "Elliot cycle." The long-awaited California premiere of The Happiest Song Plays Last, directed by Edward Torres, featuring live music by Grammy Award-winning tres guitar player Nelson Gonzalez, and starring Vaneh Assadourian; Elisa Bocanegra; Kamal Marayati; Peter Pasco; Al Rodrigo; and John Seda-Pitre, opens on Feb. 22 at The Los Angeles Theatre Center. Low-priced previews begin Feb. 17.

Monk Parrots announce casting for their New York premiere of Gabriel Jason Dean's (Princeton Hodder Fellow, Dramatist's Guild Fellowship, Broadway Blacklist) critically acclaimed play TERMINUS, directed by Lucie Tiberghien (The Other Thing, Don't Go Gentle, Soldier X, Hoodoo Love, The Pavilion). TERMINUS runs from February 17 - March 10, 2018 in a limited engagement at NEXT DOOR at NYTW, located at 83 East 4th Street between Bowery and 2nd Avenue in New York City. Previews began February 17 for a February 20 opening.

On the heels of a sold out, twice-extended world premiere produced by Vineyard Theatre in association with Audible, Audible Inc., the world's largest producer and provider of downloadable audiobooks and other spoken-word entertainment, is pleased to announce that Tony Award winner Billy Crudup will return to the title role in Harry Clarke, written by Obie Award winner David Cale (Lillian) and directed by Leigh Silverman (Violet).

Elevator Repair Service, "one of the city's few truly essential theater companies" (New York Times), is pleased to present the world premiere of Everyone's Fine With Virginia Woolf, a new play written by longtime company member Kate Scelsa and directed by Elevator Repair Service Artistic Director John Collins.

Audiences will receive a history lesson with a goth twist as the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music presents its spring 2018 musical, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. Performances will take place in Ward Recital Hall Feb. 16-25. 

Quiara Alegria Hudes is a Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright who wrote the book for the Broadway musical "In the Heights," which received the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical, a Tony nomination for Best Book of a Musical and was a 2009 Pulitzer Prize finalist. Her Pulitzer-nominated and winning trilogy of plays known as the "Elliot Trilogy" are now being presented concurrently, giving Los Angeles theatre audiences a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in this exciting playwright's work. ELLIOT, A SOLDIER'S FUGUE, the first in her trilogy of Elliot plays, is being produced by Center Theatre Group at the Kirk Douglas Theatre at the same time they are presenting the second play in the trilogy, Hudes' Pulitzer-winning WATER BY THE SPOONFUL at the Mark Taper Forum. The Latino Theater Company will present the final installment of the trilogy with their production of THE HAPPIEST SONG PLAYS LAST at the Los Angeles Theatre Center (LATC) opening later this month.

Center Theatre Group invites current high school students, parents and teachers to attend the third annual College & Career Fair for the Arts on March 17, 2018, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fair is free to attend and will take place at the Music Center Annex located at 601 W. After scoring a twice-extended hit at The Celebration Theater in LA last year, Byron Lane's absurd comedy TILDA SWINTON ANSWERS AN AD ON CRAIGSLIST makes its New York Premiere. Directed by Tom Detrinis (Bright Colors and Bold Patterns), it stars Tom Lenk (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Rock of Ages on Broadway) as Tilda Swinton and co-stars Byron Lane, Jayne Entwistle (Feud, Desperate Housewives) and Mark Jude Sullivan (Pan Am). This limited engagement begins performances March 16 at The Laurie Beechman Theatre.

Center Theatre Group's production of 'Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue' by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Quiara Alegria Hudes opened last night, February 3. Directed by Shishir Kurup, the production will continue through February 25, 2018, at the Kirk Douglas Theatre.

A SNIPER'S WAR, Directed by Olya Schechter, will premiere at the 33rd Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Wednesday, February 7th at the Lobero Theatre. 

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival announced today its lineups for the annual Writers and Producers Panel series. Peter Spears (Call Me By Your Name), Lisa Bruce (Darkest Hour), Emma Thomas (Dunkirk), Sean McKittrick (Get Out), Evelyn O'Neill (Lady Bird), Daniel Lupi (Phantom Thread), J. Miles Dale (The Shape of Water), and Graham Broadbent (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) are this year's participants on the “Movers and Shakers” Producers Panel. Adrian Molina (Coco), Edgar Wright (Baby Driver), Virgil Williams (Mudbound), Michael H. Weber (The Disaster Artist), Emily V. Gordon (The Big Sick), Liz Hannah (The Post), and Mike Vanessa Taylor (The Shape of Water) will speak on the “It Starts With the Script” Writers Panel. The panels will take place on Saturday, February 3rd at the Lobero Theatre.

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) announced today the roster of the annual Women's Panel. Costume designer April Napier (Lady Bird), producer Darla K. Anderson (Coco), director Elaine McMillion Sheldon (Heroin), hair and makeup artist Lucy Sibbick (Darkest Hour), director Ru Kuwahata (Negative Space), and editor Tatiana S. Riegel (I, Tonya) will be this year's participants in the “Creative Forces: Women in the Business” panel. The event will take place on Sunday, Feb. 4 at the Lobero Theatre.

Center Theatre Group will offer Spanish-language translations of the 1 p.m. performance of "Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue" on Sunday, February 25 at the Kirk Douglas Theatre and the 8 p.m. performance of "Water by the Spoonful" on Friday, March 9 at the Mark Taper Forum. Each show will be performed in English with Spanish translations running simultaneously on open captioned screens. Audience members wishing to view the open captions should request to be seated in the captioning area when purchasing tickets.
