The cast of THE BOOK OF MORMON signed copies of the show's Original Broadway Cast Recording from Ghostlight Records today at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. THE BOOK OF MORMON has been nominated for 14 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and is the winner of the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical and four Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score (Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone), Best Director (Casey Nicholaw and Trey Parker) and Best Actor (Josh Gad). Manhattan Theatre Club presented their annual Spring Gala last night, May 16, a special evening highlighting some of Broadway's most exciting shows, on Monday, May 16 at Gotham Hall. MTC's artistic director Lynne Meadow directed the evening, which was hosted by Tate Donovan (Good People) and Lily Rabe (The American Plan). The gala featured performances from the hit shows Baby It's You!, Catch Me If You Can, MTC's upcoming production of Master Class, Memphis, Rain, and Wicked. On Wednesday, May 11th, Morgan Karr officially released his much- anticipated debut EP. An actor, singer and songwriter hailing from Nashville Tennessee, Karr's first release comes after quickly making his mark on the New York City entertainment scene. The album is co-produced by Grammy Nominated Producer Juan Patiño (Lisa Loeb's 'Stay'), Cliff Goldmacher (Jane Monheit, Spencer Day), and Kevin Fisher (Rascal Flatts, Sara Evans).

Last night, May 9, Pace University presented RATED RSO: COLLEGE EDITION, featuring the talents of Pace University's Freshman BFA Musical Theater Class of 2014 and the music of Ryan Scott Oliver (Darling,35mm, Mrs. Sharp) at Joe's Pub.

The New Group honored Wallace Shawn and Fred Wistow with the fifth annual Michael Mendelson Award. Founded in 2005, this award recognizes individuals who show outstanding commitment to the theatrical community. Patricia Watt, Executive Producer of the 2011 Fred & Adele Astaire Awards, has announced the first group of Presenters for the 29th Annual Fred & Adele Astaire Awards, In addition to Len Cariou and Brian Stokes Mitchell who will co-present the Douglas Watt Lifetime Achievement Award to legendary, dancer, choreographer, teacher and star of stage, film and television Jacques D'Amboise, additional presenters include Bill Irwin, Maurice Hines, Christine Andreas, Charlotte D'amboise, Christopher D'amboise and Karen Ziemba.

The Public Theater (Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director; Joey Parnes Interim Executive Director) announced the final Public Forum evening of the season, 'Tony Kushner and Oskar Eustis in Conversation,' on Sunday, March 8 at 8 p.m. In his new play, The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures, Kushner writes movingly about politics and family in America today-plus unions, real estate and love. On Sunday, May 8, Kushner and Eustis will discuss these topics and more, with an introduction by special guest host Cynthia Nixon. Transport Group Theatre Company, the winner of a special Drama Desk Award and two OBIE Awards, has announced casting and dates for the New York premiere of Lysistrata Jones, a new musical with a book by Douglas Carter Beane; music and lyrics by Lewis Flinn; directed and choreographed by Dan Knechtges. Previews begin Sunday May 15 on the basketball court of the Judson Memorial Church Gymnasium, 243 Thompson Street at Washington Square South. The opening is set for Sunday, June 5, at 8pm.

As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, Broadway producer Bob Boyett is planning to revive FUNNY GIRL on Broadway with famed director Bartlett Sher (South Pacific, Awake and Sing, The Light in the Piazza) at the helm. Though no official comment has been made on production plans, it has been reported that the pair are currently planning a six week out-of-town tryout in late 2011 prior to a swift Broadway transfer thereafter. This would be the first revival of the show on Broadway. Boyett currently secures the rights.

BENGAL TIGER AT THE BAGHDAD ZOO is a new American play by Rajiv Joseph starring Robin Williams in his Broadway acting debut and directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Moisés Kaufman. Recently Tony nominated for Best Featured Actor (Arian Moayed), Lighting Design (David Lander) and Sound Design (Acme Sound Partners & Cricket S. Myers), the production opened March 31, at the Richard Rogers Theatre. Last night, the production received a special visit from stage and screen favorite Helen Hunt.
