After almost a decade of great live music and three Blues albums, the Jimmy Smith Band bids farewell to the Bay Area with an exciting "Good Bye" Show at the Empress Theater. There will be lots of surprises and special guests!

The second Wednesday in June marks a special evening of acoustic blues, a concert honoring the roots of the blues while sharing the music of those working at the forefront of the genre.

Experience Chicago's blues music legacy at the 35th Annual Chicago Blues Festival happening June 8-10 in Millennium Park (201 E. Randolph St.). Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) are pleased to announce the dates for Millennium Park's 2018 summer season which runs from May through September. Millennium Park will offer traditional favorites like the Chicago House Music Festival, Chicago Gospel Music Festival, Chicago Blues Festival, Summer Music Series, Summer Film Series and SummerDance Celebration, in addition to dozens of free concerts, events, family activities, nature programs, work outs, public art and more.

Signature Theatre announces the full cast and creative team for the DC premiere of Annie Baker's John, directed by Signature Theatre Director of New Work Joe Calarco (Signature's The Gulf, Jesus Christ Superstar). Elias and Jenny, a young Brooklyn couple, escape on a much-needed getaway to a cozy bed-and-breakfast in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. However, under the watchful eye of the cheery, if slightly off, innkeeper, a ghost seems to haunt their crumbling relationship. Annie Baker's John was called "so good on so many levels that it casts a unique and brilliant light' by The New Yorker. John will run April 3 - April 29 in Signature Theatre's MAX Theatre.

Madeline Joey Rose's solid research and attention to detail set her solo play apart from the myriad of others that have tried to introduce typical theatergoers to cultures (especially religious ones) that might be less familiar to them.

One of the country's most prestigious cultural honors, The Helen Hayes Awards recognizes and celebrates excellence in professional theatre throughout the Washington metropolitan area. The National Theatre's Helen Hayes Gallery set the scene for the announcement of nominees in 47 categories for artistic excellence, and the theatre companies eligible for the 2017 John Aniello Award for Outstanding Emerging Theatre Company. The recipient of the 2018 Helen Hayes Tribute will be announced shortly.

Blue Moon Cafe Entertainment presents FRENCH COOKIN'! A regular act at Lucille's Grill / B.B. King's Club in Times Square since its inception, and going back as far as Dan Lynch Blues Bar, and The Lone Star Cafe days, French Cookin' is a 2014 inductee into the New York Blues Hall Of Fame. French Cookin' plays all styles of the Blues; Delta, Chicago, New Orleans Second Line, Texas Swing, and more, plus original material written by our singer/guitarist/band leader, Doc French.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents a world premiere Kennedy Center commission,  Digging Up Dessa, running February 3-18, 2018 in the Family Theater. This insightful and humorous play follows Dessa, a 21st-century girl with no shortage of struggles, secrets, and mysteries to solve. With the help of a remarkable friend-the pioneering 19th century English paleontologist Mary Anning-she sets out to dig up some super-sized discoveries.
