DIRTY PAKI LINGERIE Presented at The Flea Theater, Now through 8/18

After sold out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Toronto, NYC, and recently in Pakistan Dirty Paki Lingerie by Aizzah Fatima directed by Erica Gould returns to NYC at The Flea Theater for a three week run from July 31 through August 18.

The Flea Theater kicks off its Fall 2013 Season with the New York Premiere of Jonathan Caren's THE RECOMMENDATION - a play about class, race, power and what happens to a friendship when the tables get turned. The 2012 production at The Old Globe in San Diego won the Craig Noel Outstanding New Play Award. Helmed by Flea Resident Director Kel Haney and featuring The Bats, the resident acting company at The Flea, this production plays August 23 - September 22, Wednesday - Sunday at 7pm with press opening on September 6. Tickets are $15 - $35.

Phillstock Entertainment to Present Musical Re-Imagining of AS YOU LIKE IT at The Flea, 8/8-18

Phillstock Entertainment presents the World-Premiere of the new musical UNDER THE GREENWOOD TREE - a 90-minute re-imagining of Shakespeare's classic 'As You Like It' using original Shakespearean text, an indie-Americana score and a multi-talented cast of actor/singer/musicians to create a melodic journey through the Forest of Arden Workshopped this past march in a Brooklyn warehouse, UNDER THE GREENWOOD TREE is now stretching it's boughs and limbs across the East River. Performances of UNDER THE GREENWOOD TREE begin August 8th prior to an official press opening of August 11th at The Flea Theater (41 White Street) in Manhattan.

First generation Chinese-Americans growing up in New York City, Vivienne and Luke confront a confused tangle of family, a diverse array of friends, and their rampant sexuality. In our digital age, how can they navigate the traditional expectations of their mother with their American culture of individuality?

The Attic Theater Company will present the New York premiere of Tennessee Williams' THE NOTEBOOK OF TRIGORIN, directed by Laura Braza. Williams' adaptation of Anton Chekov's THE SEAGULL, THE NOTEBOOK OF TRIGORIN will be performed at The Flea (41 White Street -between Broadway & Church Streets) from tonight, May 3rd through Saturday, May 18th, 2013. THE NOTEBOOK OF TRIGORIN's Press Opening will be on Wednesday, May 8th.

Woodie King, Jr. and New Federal Theatre to be Honored with 2013 Edwin Booth Award, 5/6

This year's Edwin Booth Award will be presented to the legendary theatre director and producer Woodie King, Jr., founding director of the pioneering African-American theatrical production and training institution New Federal Theatre. The New Federal Theater integrates minorities and women into the mainstream of the profession through artistic training and play production. Mr. King will be present to receive the award. The event takes place May 6th at the Martin E. Segal Theatre Center (MESTC) of The Graduate Center of City University of NY.

New Museum Presents 'NEA 4 in Residence' in May and June

The New Museum will present two major projects from May-June 2013, featuring the famously defunded artists known as the NEA 4: Karen Finley, John Fleck, Holly Hughes, and Tim Miller. The first of these projects, "NEA 4 in Residence," engages these artists in a series of four individualized residencies, featuring performances, workshops, roundtables, and panels. This project is presented in conjunction with the New Museum's current exhibition "NYC 1993: Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star."

Hamish Linklater's THE VANDAL Will Be Filmed for Broadcast

The Flea has announced that Thirteen WNET will be filming the critically acclaimed production of THE VANDAL on March 29. A broadcast date has not been slated. Written by actor Hamish Linklater (School for Lies, Twelfth Night, Recent Tragic Events & The Busy World is Hushed, and TV's The New Adventures of Old Christine), The Vandal runs through March 31. It is directed by Flea Artistic Director Jim Simpson starring Zach Grenier, Deidre O'Connell, and Noah Robbins.

The Flea Theater Presents UNEXPLORED INTERIOR, 4/8

The Flea Theater has announced a unique collaboration between The Museum of Jewish Heritage, The Public Theater, The Flea Theater, and individuals, Luna Kaufman, Emmanuel Ruranga, M.S. L.P.C., Daniel Neiden and Erika Feldman. In commemoration of the 19th anniversary of the start of the Rwandan genocide, the group will produce a one time only public reading performance of a new play by Jay O. Sanders.

THE VANDAL by Hamish Linklater Returns to The Flea, 3/22-31

Due to popular demand, The Flea Theater has announced that Hamish Linklater's playwriting debut THE VANDAL will return for a limited 2 weekend run beginning March 22. The play stars Deirdre O'Connell, Zach Grenier and Noah Robbins, with direction by Jim Simpson, The Flea's founder and Artistic Director.

Arthur Yorinks' AMERICAN SONG Continues at The Flea in April
