Unbound Productions Announces Lineup for First Stab Reading Series

Unbound Productions announces the lineup for the company's second annual new play development reading series, First Stab. The series features two afternoons of free script-in-hand play readings at the Donald R. Wright Auditorium inside the Pasadena Central Library: 285 E Walnut St, Pasadena, CA 91101. Reservations are encouraged, past readings have sold out.

TALL TALES Comes to Monday Night PlayGround Readings at Berkeley Repertory Theatre

This season over 75 California Playwrights have been invited by PlayGround to write ten-minute plays in competition for Monday Night PlayGround Readings. In San Francisco and Los Angeles well over 1,000 audience members statewide have seen the winning 26 plays  to date. Play topics have included Reap What You Sow, Probable Future Or Possible Future, Home For The Holidays  and In The Beginning… This February cycle invites playwrights to write ten-minute plays inspired by "TALL TALES" for Monday Night PlayGround Readings on February 12, 8PM at the Zephyr Theatre in Los Angeles and on February 19, 8PM at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in Berkeley.

42 Playwrights Are Vying to Become One of Six Scripts Performed in MONDAY NIGHT PLAYGROUND

PlayGround is the only theatre company in California to have Statewide, Northern, and Southern California New Play Competitions. PlayGround's 78 Member Statewide Writers Company, primarily based in San Francisco and Los Angeles, compete to write original plays in four-and-a-half days. The tremendous diversity of California has infused the writers pool with many writers new, not only to California, but to the rest of the country as well. Thousands of souls have their final resting place in Altadena's Mountain View Mausoleum and Cemetery but, once a year in the fall, the living invade the domain of the dead. That's when Unbound Productions' WICKED LIT takes over the grounds and creates a site-specific theatrical experience based on classic and original horror stories. It is unlike any other kind of theatre or Halloween event you've ever seen and it is seriously the coolest thing you can do in Southern California. Ask anyone who's done it.

Award-winning playwright Jonathan Josephson (Milwaukee Rep, Humana Festival) and director Jonathan Harper Schlieman (Actors Theatre of Louisville) have announced their latest collaboration: the east coast premiere of The Giant and The Pixie, fairy tale for grown ups. The play received its world premiere at Chance Theater in Anaheim, CA where it received a StageSceneLA award for Best Ensemble. The play was also named as a Finalist for the Eugene O'Neill National Playwrights Conference.

Rack have announced the details of the company's first fully-realized evening-length play: Holmes, Sherlock and The Consulting Detective, which will run for 19 performances between June 2 and July 1, 2017 in and around the historic Santa Anita Train Depot at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden (159 S. Baldwin Ave, Arcadia, CA 91007).

Unbound Productions have announced an enhanced staged read presentation of the company's first Mystery Lit play, Holmes, Sherlock and The Consulting Detective, at the Santa Anita Train Depot at the LA County Arboretum. The event will feature a cast of 13 in costume who will perform the play script-in-hand.
