Mint Theater Extends THE FATAL WEAKNESS Before Opening; LONDON WALL Set for Thirteen's 'Theater Close-Up'

Jonathan Bank, Artistic Director of the Drama Desk and OBIE Award-winning Mint Theater, today announced that the Mint's latest production: The Fatal Weakness by George Kelly, would extend performances through October 26th to accommodate audience demand even before it opens. Jesse Marchese directs a cast that features Cliff Bemis, Cynthia Darlow, Kristin Griffith, Sean Patrick Hopkins, Patricia Kilgarriff, and Victoria Mack. Opening Night is set for Monday September 15th (7pm) at Mint's home (311 West 43rd Street, just west of 8th Avenue). (more...)

CABARET Make-Up Designers & Kit Kat Girls Coming to MAC Cosmetics in Times Square

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced that celebrated make-up designer Angelina Avallone and the Kit Kat Girls from CABARET will give a FREE make-up demonstration at MAC Cosmetics Times Square (1540 Broadway) on Thursday, August 28 at 3pm. MAC is the Official Makeup partner of CABARET. Guests will learn from Avallone how to recreate the bold signature look of 1920s Berlin she designed for the hit Broadway revival. As BroadwayWorld reported last month, Michelle Williams has extended her acclaimed run in Cabaret on Broadway through November 9, 2014, and BroadwayWorld has just learned that a new 'Sally Bowles' is on her way to the Kit Kat Klub. A rep for the show has confirmed to BWW: 'Emma Stone is in negotiations to make her Broadway debut as 'Sally Bowles' in Cabaret on Broadway at Roundabout Theatre Company.' Stone was reportedly in talks to join the show last spring, but had to pull out due to scheduling conflicts. (more...)

Single Tickets Go on Sale July 1 for Signature Theatre's 25th Anniversary Season

On July 1, 2014, single tickets go on sale for Signature Theatre's 25th Anniversary Season. The 2014/15 season will bring three new musicals to life in world premieres including the world premiere of the Sheryl Crow and Barry Levinson penned musical adaptation of the 1982 movie Diner; Kid Victory by John Kander (Chicago, Cabaret) and Greg Pierce; and Soon by Nick Blaemire. The season begins with Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Sunday in the Park with George; and continues with the musical version of Sinclair Lewis's best-selling novel Elmer Gantry; the DC area premiere of Sex with Strangers by Laura Eason; a world premiere concert event Simply Sondheim celebrating the work of Stephen Sondheim; and Kander & Ebb's classic musical Cabaret. Tickets to all of these events as well as Signature's Cabaret and Holiday Follies concerts go on sale to the public July 1 at 10AM. (more...)

BWW Reviews: CABARET Boasts Outstanding Performances in an Intimate Setting at the San Pedro Theatre Club

The San Pedro Theatre Club presents CABARET, a musical based on a book written by Christopher Isherwood, with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The production is directed by Drew Fitzsimmons and Victoria Miller, who also choreographed, with music directed by Leslie Sharp. The intimate 78-seat theater allows the actors to interact with the audience on several occasions, making it really feel as if we are inside the small German cabaret rather than watching a show about it.
