Today AJ Lambert, granddaughter of Frank Sinatra and daughter of Nancy Sinatra, debuted a new video for “You and Your Sister.” AJ Lambert's style and interpretations of both standards and modern music alike is truly her own, as displayed on this classic Chris Bell (Big Star) single. In the clip, directed by Boshra AlSaadi, AJ trails the oblivious object of her desire throughout the East Village, Chinatown and onto the NYC Ferry which carries him to the outer boroughs and out of her sights. The video was shot one sunny afternoon using an old iPhone. AJ explains her relationship with the song: “I've had this in my head since I was a teenager and had a whole different understanding of it back then. I mainly knew the version by This Mortal Coil with Kim Deal singing.”

Segerstrom Center to Celebrate Leonard Bernstein
by A.A. Cristi
- Dec 8, 2017
C elebrated as one of the most inf l uential musicians and composers of the 20th century, Leonard Bernstein ushered in an era of m ajor cultural transition. He led the way in advocating an open attitude about what constituted good music, actively bridging the gap between classical music, B r oadway musicals, jazz and rock, and he seized new media for its potential to reach diverse communities of listeners, young and old. Longtime conductor of the New York Philharmonic, renowned composer of works for the concert hall and Broadway stage, glamoro us television personality, virtuosic pianist and committed educator, Bernstein was an extravagantly gifted musician with a common touch. He maintained a life - long focus on advocating for social justice, notably civil rights at home and peace around the wor ld. To celebrate the maestro's 100th birthday, Segerstrom Center is pleased to present a tribute to the musical theater masterpieces Bernstein created while honoring the scope and reach of his genius.

- Jul 17, 2017
It is great to see an artist of Kay Cole's caliber perform her very first solo cabaret at a later stage of life. This woman has done TV, film, Broadway, national tours; she has directed both musicals and plays, choreographed...and now has released Souvenir, her very first solo CD and achieved a glorious cabaret debut at Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal on Sunday July 16. The show also called Souvenir, which ran under an hour, was directed by Cole's long-time friend the wonderful Bruce Kimmel and musically directed by the fabulous John Boswell, who accompanied her on the piano throughout.
Kay Cole has a lot to tell about her life and care
BWW Review: Donna McKechnie Brings Joyful SAME PLACE ANOTHER TIME to LA
by Don Grigware
- May 30, 2017
Someone once asked me what the key is to a good cabaret performance. My answer? First, the performer should be an experienced actor and really know him or herself in depth. He must separate his own personality from every role played on stage. Cabaret audiences want to see something special, a glow from the inside that makes the person take hold of the moment and run with it. Nobody does this better than Donna McKechnie, Tony Award winner for A Chorus Line, whose vibrant persona adds warmth to every moment that she is in our presence. To me she is practically the same off stage as on; maybe that's the key, just being your true joyful self.
