The Board of Trustees of Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation today announced that Robert Battle, Artistic Director of Ailey since 2011, has informed them that he needs to focus on his health and has submitted his resignation.

Embracing people everywhere in the city that is its home, the Ailey organization will once again offer Ailey Moves NYC!, presenting six days of free performances, dance classes, and workshops throughout the city’s five boroughs.

For the first time, the Ailey organization's annual Ailey Spirit Gala will be held in the home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. The special event celebrates the art and soul of dance with a unique performance featuring a piece d'occasion entitled Chasing the Spirit created by choreographer and former Ailey Company member Hope Boykin, as well as an excerpt of Alvin Ailey's uplifting Revelations, followed by a festive soirée.

Jacqulyn Buglisi, Artistic Director/Founder of Buglisi Dance Theatre, will launch the celebration of her Company's 30th Anniversary at the forefront of Contemporary Dance with performances at the Ailey Citigroup Theater in the Joan Weill Center for Dance from June 13 to 15, 2023.

This March, Ailey Extension invites all to celebrate Women's History Month by joining in the fun during workshops taught by leading ladies of the dance world.
