Mary Bridget Davies, star of the new Broadway musical A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN, appeared on ABC's "World News Now" late last night. In a backstage interview, she chatted about preparing for the role of a lifetime and teaching Broadway audiences through her performance about the blues singers who influenced Janis's music so deeply. A backstage interview with Mary Bridget Davies, star of the new Broadway musical A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN, will appear on ABC's "World News Now" late tonight, December 18 (early Thursday morning, December 19), between 2:30-4:00am. "World News Now" airs from 2:30-4:00am EST on channel 7 (WABC). Check local listings.

The Broadway League announced today the shows participating in the 18thKIDS' NIGHT ON BROADWAY, which will take place Monday, February 24, 2014 to Sunday, March 2, 2014. Tickets to participating shows will be available to the public starting Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 10 a.m. ET.

Now, to celebrate today's (November 26) release of Walker's lost studio session from 1970, and his first solo guitar record with vocals, 'Has Anybody Seen Our Freedoms?', on Delmore Recording Society, he is proud to announce that he will be making his first NYC area live performance in seven years (and only show this year) on 12/18 at Union Pool in Brooklyn.

NYC & Company, New York City's official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, announced that Broadway Week will return this winter with 2-for-1 theater tickets to 26 Broadway shows-more than any previous iteration of the campaign. The promotion will run from January 21 through February 6, and theatergoers can take advantage of this savings opportunity by purchasing 2-for-1 tickets starting on January 6 at nycgo.com/broadwayweek.

Basquiat, a new musical about the life and times of 80's art-star, Jean Michele Basquiat just premiered a special concert version of the show at Joe's Publast night, December 16th. The performers included Eric LaJuan Summers (Motown: The Musical) as well as Lena Hall (Kinky Boots) and Felicia Finley(Mama Mia, The Wedding Singer). Other performers include Ken Robinson (Memphis), Julius Thomas III (Motown: The Musical) Chad Carstarphen (In the Heights), Benjamin Mapp, Jimmy Lambert, Roger DeWitt, Eddie Varley andNikki Kimbrough (A Night with Janis Joplin). The 25th anniversary celebration of GYPSY OF THE YEAR, the culmination of six weeks of extraordinary fundraising by 56 participating Broadway, Off-Broadway, and national touring companies, raised an amazing $4,343,234 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Last night, 92Y celebrated songwriting legend Mike Stoller on the occasion of his 80th year with An 80th Birthday Celebration, a one-night-only Lyrics & Lyricists Special Event hosted by Paul Shaffer and directed and written by Randy Johnson (director/writer of A Night withJanis Joplin). Performers included: legendary vocal group The Coasters, along with artists Karen Akers,Mary Bridget Davies, Corky Hale, Maria Elena Infantino,Sally Kellerman, Bettye Lavette, Melissa Manchester, Billy Stritch, Tommy Tune and Steve Tyrell. Backed by Tyrell's band, the artists performed some of the greatest songs written by Stoller with his longtime lyricist partner Jerry Leiber and others.
