The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall has announced that Itzhak Perlman in Recital with pianist Rohan De Silva on Saturday, March 21, 2020 has been canceled due to current travel precautions. His appearance has been rescheduled for Monday, March 8, 2021.

Stephen Milenkovich to Replace Elissa Lee Koljonen In Performance with Pacific Symphony Chamber Orchestra

Due to personal reasons, Elissa Lee Koljonen has withdrawn from the Sunday, April 5, 2020 concert with Pacific Symphony Chamber Orchestra. Replacing Koljonen will be acclaimed violinist Stefan Milenkovich. The original program is scheduled to be performed and includes Ticheli's Rest, for String Orchestra, a piece of fragile beauty and quiet dignity, and Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 61, considered to be his most lyrical work, and the only concerto he wrote for one of the most popular instruments of his day: the violin.

Michael Tilson Thomas Will Receive Honorary Doctorate From Cleveland Institute Of Music

The Cleveland Institute of Music announced yesterday that acclaimed conductor, composer and educator Michael Tilson Thomas will be awarded an honorary doctorate at the school's 95th Commencement Ceremony in Kulas Hall on Saturday, May 16 at 10am EDT. Attendance is by invitation only, but a live stream will be available via cim.edu. Yesterday's announcement was given at a special MTT-led rehearsal of the CIM Orchestra at Severance Hall, home of The Cleveland Orchestra, which MTT also conducts February 20-23.

On Friday, February 28, 2020 at 8:00pm, the Philharmonic Society of Orange County and the Irvine Barclay Theatre present multiple Grammy Award-nominated violinist Philippe Quint in the west coast premiere of Charlie Chaplin's Smile: A Musical Tribute to Charlie Chaplin, a new multimedia recital with pianist John Novacek featuring new arrangements of works and video clips from Chaplin's most celebrated films - Modern Times, City Lights, Monsieur Verdoux, The Kid, Limelight and A King in New York - interspersed with works by composers that had a great impact on Chaplin's compositional style: Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Brahms, Gershwin, and Stravinsky. During the performance, Quint will also narrate the stories that he has written and based on Chaplin's My Autobiography. There will be a 7:00pm panel with Quint, film archivist Stan Taffle, and Newport Beach Film Festival CEO Gregg Schwenk before the performance.

The McCallum Theatre welcomes back the legendary Itzhak Perlman, performing with longtime pianist Rohan De Silva, for An Evening With Itzhak Perlman at 7:00pm., Monday, January 20. The show is made possible through the generosity of Barbara Arnstein. In this 2019-20 season, Perlman is embarking on a debut tour of a new program entitled An Evening With Itzhak Perlman, which captures highlights of his career through narrative and multimedia elements, intertwined with performance. In addition to the McCallum, tour stops have included or will include Penn State, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis the Mesa Arts Center, Artis-Naples and the State Theatre in New Jersey.

With a celebrated career encompassing five decades, Pinchas Zukerman is one of the world's most sought-after and versatile musicians, as a violin and viola soloist, conductor, and chamber musician. The 2019–20 season marks Zukerman's eleventh as Principal Guest Conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. His extensive discography includes more than 100 titles, for which he earned two GRAMMY Awards and 21 nominations.
