The Massapequa Philharmonic will be featuring guest conductor David Bernard and violinist Kristin Lee in its Season Finale at Berner Auditorium in Massapequa on Saturday May 10th at 8 pm. The program will feature some of the most sublime and engaging classical music, including Dvorak's brilliant Symphony No. 9 (“From the New World”), Brahms exciting Academic Festival Overture and Saint-Saëns alluring and passionate Violin Concerto No. 3 featuring Ms. Lee. “I am looking forward to collaborating with the Massapequa Philharmonic and Kristin Lee on this fantastic program,” says guest conductor David Bernard. “Dvorak's New World Symphony is thoroughly engaging, while Kristin Lee will dazzle with her artistry in the Saint-Saëns concerto. The Celebrity Series of Boston Announces 2014-2015 Season

The Celebrity Series of Boston announced its 2014-2015 season today, marking 76 years of bringing the world's greatest performing artists to Boston. The season opens on Sunday, October 5, 2014 with Italian pianist Maurizio Pollini in recital. In total, the 2014-2015 season will include 46 music, dance and entertainment engagements. YO-YO MA to Join the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra in a Grand Gala Concert, 6/1

World-renowned cellist YO-YO MA will join Music Director LARRY RACHLEFF and the RHODE ISLAND PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA in a grand gala concert to launch the Philharmonic's 70th anniversary season. Mr. Ma will play Elgar's Cello Concerto with the orchestra. The orchestra will also perform Stravinsky's Firebird Suiteand Berlioz's Béatrice et Bénédict Overture. The concert takes place Sunday June 1 at 7:00pm at The Vets in Providence, presented by Nortek and sponsored by Taco/The White Family Foundation, the Carter Family Charitable Trust, AmicaInsurance, Capital Properties and Roger Williams University. Lincoln Center Announces MOSTLY MOZART FESTIVAL 2014, 7/25-8/23

Jane Moss, Ehrenkranz Artistic Director, today announced the 48th season of Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival, New York's acclaimed annual summer celebration of classical music, which runs from July 25-August 23, 2014. This year's Festival will feature more than 35 events across several venues including concerts, opera, dance, pre-concert recitals and lectures, late-night performances, contemporary music, and premieres of two commissioned works. The Festival kicks off with two free events: the world premiere of a new work by John Luther Adams, performed July 25 and 26 for free on Hearst Plaza, in a joint presentation with Lincoln Center Out of Doors, and continuing an annual tradition, the free preview concert by the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra at Avery Fisher Hall on July 26. Renee and Robert Belfer Music Director Louis Langree returns for his 12th season to conduct the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, which will perform a wide range of works anchored by the Festival's featured namesake. Mostly Mozart will also present world-renowned artists and returning Festival favorites, such as violinist Joshua Bell, Mark Morris Dance Group, Emerson String Quartet and Artists-in-Residence International Contemporary Ensemble, as well as 14 Festival debuts, including pianists Yuja Wang and Steven Osborne, and violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja. New programs for Lincoln Center Local HD, a pilot program running April through June in branch libraries in Brooklyn and Queens, were announced today by Russell Granet, Executive Director of Lincoln Center Education. These events, which launched in January, are part of the two-year pilot program that will feature digital streams of programs from Lincoln Center's growing digital content collection, including programs from the Emmy Award-winning series Live From Lincoln Center. The Lincoln Center Local HD pilot program is part of Lincoln Center Education's (LCE) expanded mission to bring Lincoln Center's high-quality resources to new and underserved audiences and communities. Violinist Philippe Quint Receives Gateways Ambassador of Arts Award

On Wednesday, March 12, violinist Philippe Quint was awarded the Ambassador of Arts Award at the 16th Anniversary Gala Banquet of the Gateways Organization celebrating The Brownstone Experience. The banquet, held in the Delegates Dining Room at the United Nations, was attended by distinguished elected officials, world business leaders, dignitaries and over 400 prominent guests, also honoring fashion designer Valentin Yudashkin and Virginie and Mark Cohen, CEOs of Stonehouse Capital Management. Unfortunately, Quint was not able to be present at the Award ceremony. On the way to the United Nations, Quint's taxi was hit by another vehicle running a red light and Quint had to be hospitalized. Fortunately there were no serious injuries and he is scheduled to appear next week with the Rhode Island Philharmonic. (more...)

The 65-year-old Peninsula Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Mitchell Sardou Klein close their successful 2013-2014 season May 16 and 17 by continuing one of the Orchestra's cherished hallmarks: presenting an extremely gifted young soloist and winner of the Irving M. Klein International String Competition. The 2013 Competition winner, 18-year-old South Korea-born violinist Youjin Lee, will perform the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto on a program with Brahms Fourth Symphony and Nielsen's Helios Overture Friday, May 16, 2014 at 8 p.m., San Mateo Performing Arts Center, and Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 8 p.m., Flint Center/DeAnza College.
